A Great Bicycling Guide... January 20, 2011
Wow! I am impressed. What a great biking guide for those of us who live in or near Chicago and its suburbs. I saw this book offered recently as a premium by one of the local public tv stations...but the available copies were quickly snatched up. However, I had a chance to spend some time with it at a friend's house...and couldn't put it down. Glad to see it now available on Amazon. It comes off as a labor of love by a great writer and a dedicated bicyclist.

This book is really well organized, detailed, reasonably compact (not much more than a pound...easy to throw in a backpack or bike bag)...and absolutely full of maps, photos, trail ratings, trail descriptions, history, log rides, etc. I'm learning about 72 bike trails (including 27 good ones for kids)...most of which I never knew existed...and thinking hard about giving this book as a gift to friends and family. Five stars!

What a great book! January 25, 2011
By Zach
This book is very well-written and a breeze to use. I love the way the author goes out of his way to list bike routes that are accessible via public transportation. The descriptions of the best ways to cycle are also really helpful. I would recommend this book for all Chicagoans--even if you don't like to bike now, this book will make you want to hit the trail!

Wow! If you're a cyclist in Chicago this book is an absolute must. It details all of the hidden paths in 72 different rides---complete with terrain guides, bits of history, points of interest along the way, and how to use the public transit system to get to your destination. There's even a special section for kid's rides. This book explores sculpture parks, forest preserves and trails leading to botanical gardens, zoos and even an aquatic park. An amazingly thorough and extremely useful book that will get you out on your bike this summer. Most highly recommended--for all ages. A fantastic guide!

Decent book, really didn't like the advertisements within the book.
When I buy a book, I don't expect to find advertisements printed within/throughout the book. When I buy a magazine, I understand that's just part of the deal. Read more
