In their time, and in our's, they were the best. Bill Monroe (the best bluegrass performer ever), Connie Francis (the best girl pop singer of the '50s and early '60s) and The Ink Spots (the best R&B pop vocal group of a generation) will each be the subject of a new greatest hits compilation in the 20th Century Masters/The Millennium Collection series, to be released October 5, 1999. 5.0 out of 5 stars Unique Collection of Rare Takes, March 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Where The Boys Are: Connie Francis In Hollywood - Motion Picture Soundtrack Anthology (Audio CD)
It is nice to discover and experience alternate takes of songs made popular. This collection does just that and more. Connie's jazz selection from Where The Boys Are luckily made it on this CD. To my knowledge this song, Turn On the Sunshine, makes it's recording debut. There was never a soundtrack of Where The Boys Are, and Turn On The Sunshine, sung in the now famous Elbo Room in the movie, demonstrates Connie's brightness and versatality. Other favorites, rare to CD compilations, are Whoever You Are, I Love You, I Can't Believe That You're In Love With Me, and This Is My Happiest Moment. A nice idea and a great voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD, May 29, 2006
This review is from: Where The Boys Are: Connie Francis In Hollywood - Motion Picture Soundtrack Anthology (Audio CD)
Connie admits she did not care for her movie career and most of her films were fluff. This is the original (for the most part) soundtracks from her 4 films. She recorded her soundtracks separately and in a more accessible pop style than what appeared in the movie. So here is the real thing and it's much better and also include Where The Boys Are that never made it to Lp as Connie sang only the title song and "Turn On The Sunshine". With that and the instrumental music it would not have filled a complete Lp. But here it is for everyone to rediscover and enjoy in glorious stereo. This CD contains a large and fascinating booklet and Rhino and done an excellent job exploring Connie's film career. There are some nice "warm up" rare demo tracks from "Looking For Love" included. This CD is unfortunately out of print and probably not easy to find. And this is a shame. It is one of the more interesting forays into the Connie Francis catalogue. Get it if you can.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must CD!, February 12, 1999
This review is from: Where The Boys Are: Connie Francis In Hollywood - Motion Picture Soundtrack Anthology (Audio CD)
The great thing about this CD is not only does it have tracks from Connie's movies, but also the instramental themes and demos with Connie and piano only. There are also different versions of the songs including jazz and rock. This is a must CD for Connie fans and a great addition to any collection!
