5.0 out of 5 stars Unique Collection of Rare Takes
It is nice to discover and experience alternate takes of songs made popular. This collection does just that and more. Connie's jazz selection from Where The Boys Are luckily made it on this CD. 2.0 out of 5 stars Connie Francis gets out of Hollywood
Connie Francis fans around the world would undoubtedly flip over the concept-a CD containing music from Connie's 4 movie film career. Great idea in theory, but the end result is a thinly disguised collection of minor songs from four forgettable movies. Francis' fans will enjoy such rarities as "Waiting for Billy" and "When the Boys Meet the...

It is nice to discover and experience alternate takes of songs made popular. This collection does just that and more. Connie's jazz selection from Where The Boys Are luckily made it on this CD. To my knowledge this song, Turn On the Sunshine, makes it's recording debut. There was never a soundtrack of Where The Boys Are, and Turn On The Sunshine, sung in the now famous Elbo Room in the movie, demonstrates Connie's brightness and versatality. Other favorites, rare to CD compilations, are Whoever You Are, I Love You, I Can't Believe That You're In Love With Me, and This Is My Happiest Moment. A nice idea and a great voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD, May 29, 2006
This review is from: Where The Boys Are: Connie Francis In Hollywood - Motion Picture Soundtrack Anthology (Audio CD)
Connie admits she did not care for her movie career and most of her films were fluff. This is the original (for the most part) soundtracks from her 4 films. She recorded her soundtracks separately and in a more accessible pop style than what appeared in the movie. So here is the real thing and it's much better and also include Where The Boys Are that never made it to Lp as Connie sang only the title song and "Turn On The Sunshine". With that and the instrumental music it would not have filled a complete Lp. But here it is for everyone to rediscover and enjoy in glorious stereo. This CD contains a large and fascinating booklet and Rhino and done an excellent job exploring Connie's film career. There are some nice "warm up" rare demo tracks from "Looking For Love" included. This CD is unfortunately out of print and probably not easy to find. And this is a shame. It is one of the more interesting forays into the Connie Francis catalogue. Get it if you can.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must CD!, February 12, 1999
This review is from: Where The Boys Are: Connie Francis In Hollywood - Motion Picture Soundtrack Anthology (Audio CD)
The great thing about this CD is not only does it have tracks from Connie's movies, but also the instramental themes and demos with Connie and piano only. There are also different versions of the songs including jazz and rock. This is a must CD for Connie fans and a great addition to any collection!

Well it is hard for me to be objective since I am a Connie Francis fan, but here goes. I think you would have to be somewhat of a fan of Connies to get this CD. I think it is wonderful and here is why. I have followed her career path since the early 60's. Actually Where The Boys Are was my first intro to Connie and I have been a fan since. Here in this one CD are all her soundtracks to every one of her "staring" movies. The quality is very good and she sounds great. Up until now they were out of print and only on vinyl, with its pops and clicks. The CD also offers some unreleased tunes from Looking For Love.
All her movies were lighthearted and fun. Her acting was, well if you love her you love her:) BUT her singing was and has always been the drawing factor for me. There is no other that can turn a phrase like Connie. Hearing these tunes again was like a shot in the arm. Thanks Rhino. I am surprised to see it available after all this time. IF you are a fan, you must have this set. There is still so much more that is not on CD yet. OPEN the VAULTS and lets hear it. Come on guys..............

Connie Francis fans around the world would undoubtedly flip over the concept-a CD containing music from Connie's 4 movie film career. Great idea in theory, but the end result is a thinly disguised collection of minor songs from four forgettable movies. Francis' fans will enjoy such rarities as "Waiting for Billy" and "When the Boys Meet the Girls", but there isn't much to listen to for others. Rhino/TCM's attempt to milk the MGM vaults provides little refreshment. Francis gets lost in the mess of outtakes, instrumentals, and poorly transferred film masters. For demanding fans only. All others go directly to THE VERY BEST OF CONNIE FRANCIS. Greatest treat and brightest highlight:Connie Francis' soaring rendition of "When the Boys Meet the Girls".
