From the Author
Because WHERE DANGER HIDES Is a book connected to another, there were some characters who were already established. Dalton appears in When Danger Calls, but he wasn't fully fleshed out (I didn't know his first name in that one), and since I didn't know he was going to demand his own book, I didn't bother with too many details. At this phase, I do try to consider the all-important GMC: Goal, Motivation and Conflict, so I'll list some of those possibilities as well.
You're now invited to step inside my head and see where the book began. And, of course, if you want to see how much of this actually ended up in the book, you know where to go to find out.

Galloway House provides places for the homeless, teaches skills, and feeds many more. Miri has no way to know what happens to missing people if she doesn't hear from them. Sometimes, they don't give their real names. Once a resident herself, Miri has taken on the mission of saving these people. However, when a meth lab nearby explodes, a resident claims to have seen one of the missing former residents on the scene.
Dalton's efforts have found information on two of the residents, now deceased, but nothing on the rest. Then, a current resident is arrested for buying allergy meds under a false id and that raises questions whether the others had done the same thing or worked in the illegal meth labs.
A former Blackthorne source alerts Dalton about her suspicions of Andrew Patterson, a rich philanthropist, building community housing for migrant workers near the Mexican border. Miri's brother-in-law has accepted an assignment there. Then, Miri gets a call from him that her sister is missing. She had gone south with her husband to help with a community center.
Odell provides a lot of sexual tension and enough hot sex to please avid romance readers. It takes front and center in the novel, but eventually the mystery of the missing people leads to a major crime operation. An exciting climax should satisfy the most demanding thriller readers.
Miri Chambers is the caretaker and overseerer of a San Francisco shelter primarily for abused women. Galoway House also manages to shelter and care for a number of children and men, as well. There's a lot more to Miri Chambers. She is adept at disguise, light-fingered and as prickly as one can get. Two wrong words and she is liable to go off like a rocket. That propensity for shoot-from-the-hip judgments and attitude may also be the reason for her nearly unbelieveable hormonal response to the hunk she meets on a clandestine foray into the home office of a wealthy art patron.
Her reaction to "just" Dalton isn't much different from his. He works for a private security firm that has a large well-funded and mostly covert group of operatives working well outside the usual legal limits. Dalton, one of Blackthorn's elite black ops operatives has an appreciated eye for female anatomy, wherever he finds it, including hiding under the desk of the aforementioned wealthy San Francisco Art patron.
Dalton and Miri Chambers are all fire and sparks and hot sex throughout this rollicking novel. The author has created a pair of characters who could each carry the novel solo, but when you pair them, look out.
The action carries Dalton and Chambers from posh and elegant settings to gritty exceedingly dangerous operations. Readers are not likely to predict each succeeding move.Read more ›
Dalton and Miri first meet at a reception one of Blackthorne's potential clients is having and Miri, who is an expert pick pocket, picks Dalton's wallet which leads her to Blackthorne, Inc.
Miri is concerned about several residents of Galloway House who have gone missing and Dalton has been assigned to help Miri locate them. This is no easy task since many of the residents do not give their real names. This assignment does not go over well with Dalton since he would rather be out of the country on a covert operation. However, his dislike for this assignment doesn't last long when he starts to fall head over heals in love with Miri who is having the same feelings for Dalton.
There are several twists and turns not only in their investigation which eventually ends up in a covert operation but also in their relationship.
I very much enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it.
