Michael Solomon tells it like it is and holds no punches. His book thrusts a wooden stake into the heart of America's unchecked political correctness that pits each of us against the other. And it's no accident when you know the facts that Michael presents in his new book, 'Where did my America go?' Michael writes about political correctness as a dangerous sticky tar that tarnishes everything in its path, repurposing most aspects of life that had been uniquely good about living in America. The subhead of his book, 'Get ready for the next Boston Tea Party,' says it all, reflecting his personal plan to take back America with a huge write-in by millions of Americans on Flag Day in 2007. He invites you to come join others around the country as they make ready for the next peaceful American Revolution. Michael was the recipient of 19 medals for meritorious and exceptional police work while serving the New York City Police Department for 15 years.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read, about time America got the facts straight, March 12, 2008
This review is from: Where Did My America Go? (Hardcover)
Where Did My America Go, tells the straight scoop on where America was and where it is going. If people actually understand this valuable wake up call, maybe we would not be such a hedonistic society where more people vote on American Idol then in the election of the President of the USA.
Does anyone ever wonder why legal immigrants from all over but especially India and Asia seem to be dominating the science and math areas? They know how much America has to offer, and they take advantage of the opportunities my America has to offer.
This book was a great compilation of personal stories and anecdotes that unfortunately show how America has transformed the culture to what was once a much feared and respected nation, where individuals had integrity and honor into a society where anything goes, and if you don't get caught it is ok.
Let's be honest, could you imagine your father or grandfather acting like the spoiled generations of today. One of the main problems with today's youth and their parents for that matter is they want to do more for their children then what their parents could afford to do for them. However, if you spoil a child with money or toys, and they never learn the value of a dollar, how prepared will they be in the real world?
I found the reading very pleasurable and moving from one story to the next. Just check out what happened to the Rich kid Gov of NY Spitzer, throwing tantrums in Albany with friends and foes alike in his few months in office, maybe he just assumed a "don't ask, don't tell" policy like Bill Clinton did with his assortment of ladies was above reproach. At least Bill was smart enough not to have to pay for for it or launder money to do it. Special Praise to the Bank clerk in the back office operations that is a proud American. Once again, it is the little guys like the clerk that saw the terrorist training camps on a video disc at a photo lab that acted in the best interest of his America. Thank God there a still enough Patriots left to save America FROM America. Read and enjoy! Get this guy on the lecture circuit or TV, just heard he has a radio show Radio Show every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 to 10:00 AN EDT. WPBR 1340 AM in West Palm Beach, Florida - [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy two copies of this book, give one to a friend., October 29, 2007
This is one of the best books I have ever read. Run don't walk to your nearest book store and buy two copies. Buy one for a friend. The author had the courage to put on paper the things that I have been thinking about for years, but didn't express in public. He shows his deep love for America and for the foundation it was built on. He should be commended for speaking up for all of us.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sensational read., October 26, 2007
This review is from: Where Did My America Go? (Hardcover)
Michael Solomon has written a wide ranging and disturbing book.
He asks us to question many of the complacencies inherent in life in America, and to remember an earlier time when we took responsibilities for our actions and were proud to be Americans.

He strongly makes the case to be extremely vigilant against the decline in the core American values of self-resilience and hard work and to the creeping lassitude of life in a digital age. He cautions us to be vigilant of the media and to look behind the ease and sensationalism of modern nano -second reporting. It's dominance by Politicians and Celanthropists , Dilettantes, beating their drums and marching to the beat of their own publicity machines. He implores us to use our common sense, to step behind the Front Page Headlines, to question sources and to strive to get past the fluff into the depth of the issues. He postulates a lifetime of inquiry, of personal growth, community involvement and Pride in the transforming capabilities of the American System.

Michael's heroes are the working men and women of America, raising families, running businesses, trying to make sense of it all. He makes a strong case about the damaging affects of Hollywood and the media on the already difficult job of raising children and is virulent in his attacks on educational policies that seem at best to be misguided or at worse positively insane. In addition, the specter of 80,000 registered sex offenders missing and possibly "living next door" is especially horrific.

He makes a strong case for Tort Reform and for reducing American dependence on Foreign oil production. He is adamant in his defense of Weapons of Mass Destruction as a bi-partisan shared legitimate fear before the Iraq invasion, and makes an interesting if contrarian argument about the human contribution to Global Warming. All Great reading and worthy of further study.

Michael wants us to embrace and engage the political system. He wants his readers empowered by the arguments for action in his book to assail the Political Structure.

He admonishes us to unite armed with the digital Tools of the Age, e-mail and fax our Leaders, Senators, Congresspersons, Governors and the Justices of the US Supreme Court every time you find yourself screaming at the radio or television. Send them this message: "I am mad as hell and I will not take it any longer. I want my America Back."
If you care anything about America, this is a must read.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Good First Draft, March 27, 2008

Nicole M (Boynton Beach, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Where Did My America Go? (Hardcover)
I came across Michael Solomon's book while at a bookstore where he happened to be speaking and signing the book. I read the book last weekend, and although I agree with some of his ideas, it was hard for me to take the book seriously.
I am a college student, and write a lot of research papers for school. When I am writing a paper, I first freetype all of the ideas for my argument that I want to include without paying attention to spelling, punctuation, or organization. Once I finish getting all of my ideas down, I go back and revise, making sure that my ideas are organized, my arguments are supported, the paper flows well, and the grammar and punctuation are correct.
This book resembled a jumble of freetyping. There was a huge amount of spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. The flow of the writing was extremely disjointed, and he used many quotes without setting them up or explaining why they fit in with his argument. Especially since some bold and controversial statements were made, it is SO important to be CLEAR about what you are saying and what your point is, otherwise you may be misunderstood as racist or biased.
Most importantly, there was absolutely NO bibliography or citation in the entire book! It is impossible to take this author seriously when he makes no reference to where he got his information! Some points in the book he merely stated "Research states...." before a statistic, which is completely unacceptable. This is the biggest problem I have with this book. I cannot believe a single statistic or fact stated in this book if he makes no effort to support these statements without reference. As a reader, I should have access to the exact website or book down to the page where he obtained the material he is using. (And NO, in text citations are not sufficient.)
So although I think Solomon makes some good points and has some good ideas, I think he merely published what resembled a first draft of a college paper. The fact that he takes no care in organizing his writing, checking his punctuation and spelling, or citing his sources makes it impossible to take him seriously as a writer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Thinking like this led to the extinction of the dinosaurs?, February 19, 2007
By
This book sounded interesting until I heard the author interviewed on radio.
Like many arguments/discussions on both sides of the debate that in fact seek to sell a product - in this case his book and newsletter series - instead of a strongly supported point of view, the author presents a simplistic, sophomoric view of the how the United States got into its present state.

As soon the author declared that many of the problems with `his America ` started in 1967 when we `allowed' people of mixed race to legally marry and that he specifically knew that only .24% of mankind was responsible for global warming I realized that America was in fact, not lost, but possibly he was.
