Editorial Reviews

Product Description
"Where Do We Go From Here" explodes through what was and races toward what's to come. Five years, four #1 radio singles, and multiple awards later Pillar launches their first studio recording in two years. An artistic sonic boom provides an unnerving twist to the melodic depth and raw power of the never-back-down lyrics. Features the single, "Bring Me Down."

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost 5 Stars, January 16, 2005
By Sky (New York) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
4 stars for this CD is almost an injustice. It's just that I only give 5 stars when EVERY song on a CD is "unskipable". There are 12 songs on this CD, and only 2 (maybe 3) are skipable. The rest are hard rock jewels.

These guys kick it hard. If you like the way Dan Donagan (guitar) and Mike Wengren (drums) work together in Disturbed, you'll love this disk. In Pillar, Noah Henson (guitar) and Lester Estelle (drums) work in the same way. This rarity of guitarists and drummers synchronizing is difficult to explain for non-musicians...so I won't get into it too deeply. I will say that this combination of hard rock guitarists and drummers playing off each other makes a huge difference than when the drummer and the bass player are simply keeping the background time in most rock bands.

Rob Beckley's singing in Pillar is clear and you can understand every word. No angry growling (think Slipknot and the like)
through the songs. Pillar's songs on this disk have those fist pumping anthem style choruses that you find yourself singing along to on the first listen. And if you favor plain old head banging over singing along, you're in luck. This CD will have your stomping feet competing with your banging head all the way through...almost every song.

Everybody With Your Fist Raised High Let Me Hear Your Battle Cry for Pillar's head bobbin', melodic, kick-ass hard rock sophomore effort, "Where Do We Go From Here". This band is labeled a Christian Rock group; and, hey, that's cool. Praise God! But here's a Dirty Little Secret: Ozzy and any other rockers that might think you need to have a pentagram on the CD cover to signify that the disk rocks would probably be proud of these guys. So if you're looking for a hard rock CD to bang your head to, hit the buy button now. This CD does indeed rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pillar is SOLID!!!, August 30, 2004
By Shai (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
I discovered Pillar at a point in my life when I really needed to hear what they where saying. My Spirit was loving it!

I thank God for them because they are bringing music that has meaning!! This is the first Christian rock band I've found (since P.O.D.) that I actually like. They are quite SOLID!!!

It's heavy enough for me AND it has lyrical substance. I would definitely recommend this CD.

My favorites songs are: Bring Me Down, Hypnotized, Staring Back, Underneath It All. Holding On is a good in between track. =) Rewind is slow so it changes up the pace (and gives you a moment to breath after dancing (I'm a girl, alright!!) or freaking out (for those of you who'd rather mosh it up) ha ha.. *grin*

On their album Fireproof: Fireproof, Echelon, Just to Get By, Shame, Behind Closed Doors, and Further From Myself (a slower tune) are my favorites.

I can't tell you how excited I am to find ya Pillar!!! Keep it going and I'm hoping to see you live!!!!

A new Pillar fan.

p.s. I never thought in a million years that I'd end up believing that Jesus is real. If you are searching for happiness, read the Bible and ask God to show you the truth. He will reveal himself to you. Once he does, your life will be forever transformed!! It is only your sinful self that rejects the truth. Open your heart and he will fill it. He loves you, more than you know!!!!! John 1:12, 3:16 & 14:6, Romans 3:23 & 5:8, Acts 17:30.

5.0 out of 5 stars HOLY COW!!!, October 7, 2004
ok, a lot of people give a band 5 stars when really they should get like 3 or 4, but wow. I got this cd when i got back from school today, and i've been listening to it constantly since then. I popped it into my stereo, cranked up the volume, and was just like WOW!!

I'm a Christian and I love their music just that much more because of their lyrics. I love the fact that they sing about real issues, but don't mention Jesus every other line like a lot of Christian bands. That really turns a lot of people off. Not these guys. If you're not a Christian, or don't like Christian music, don't write this cd off as "Christian". And if you're a Christian, don't write this cd off as "secular." There are great lyrics for Christians that even people who aren't Christian can relate to, and there's great music that anybody (except maybe my mom) can enjoy.

Best things about the band:
rythm- seriously, these guys have awesome beats
guitar- Few bands are lucky enough to have a lead guitar this good.
lyrics- they talk about issues anybody can relate to.
musical sense- i don't know how to put it- they come up with some really pretty sounds
vocals- Some pretty good harmony, and I love the lead's voice.
