Smooth drift,

I first heard Tom Heasley's work on an internet radio station and went to his website to find out more. He has released 3 discs to date which are all excellent. This music is extremely eloquent. It's brooding without being oppressive, mysterious without being a stranger and comforting without being saccharine. (His third, Desert Tryptich, is didgeridu based and thus has a different atmosphere.) "Where Earth Meets The Sky" should be bought straight away and added to your rotation of drifting exotica. He manages to keep his personality minimal in the mix, which is a feat that many space/ambient creators have yet to master. It's pure, untainted and unrestrained; an undulating landscape of clear sound. Highly recommended.

What you will find with this release is long, deep, purely sonic explorations using the Tuba exclusively as the medium. Audio texture pioneer Robert Rich lends a hand as the producer.
