I was really excited to get this book. As a recreational gold prospector I was looking for new areas near where I live in the heart of gold country to go panning. I live in Placer Country (which i consider Northern California) and there is nothing in this book anywhere near my area or surrounding areas like Nevada County, El Dorado County, Amador and South on Hwy 49. When the title says Northern California, they near extreme Northern California- Butte, Del Norte, Humbolt, Lassen, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou and Trinity counties. There is a small section on other areas which includes San Francisco and Monterey Counties, (coastal areas) The author also mentions Sacramento County being an important place because of the discovery of gold, when gold was actually discovered in Coloma in El Dorado county - based on that I would guess that other information may not be that accurate.

Could have more specific information in regards to locations (i.e. GPS coordinates, links on Google Earth Satellite, etc.) but overall not a bad reference...
