Melancholy. Beautiful. Stunning. AMAZING.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Where It Goes (Audio CD)
The first word that came to mind after listening to "Where It Goes" was 'amazing'. This is one of the most haunting CDs I've ever listened to, and by far one of the most beautiful. Lori combines a lovely voice, haunting bittersweet lyrics, a true gift for music, sincerity and undistilled raw emotion to create a masterpiece. Her songs, while dealing with topics many other artists have covered, manage to sound both utterly sincere and poignantly heartbreaking. Unlike many other artists, she puts her soul into her music, and it shows. Her lyrics are beautiful and poetic: "You are the/ Petal in the rose/ But watch out for those thorns." Her voice is amazing, and the instruments are great. But what impressed me most about this CD was its depth-- a nice contrast from the shallow, emotionless pop so rampant these days. No other album, with the exception of Sarah McLachlan's "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy", has moved me the way "Where It Goes" has.My best advice to you? If you haven't heard this CD, do so RIGHT NOW. I promise, you won't regret it.

As Golden as any Palomino,
By Brian W. Ryman (Riverside, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Where It Goes (Audio CD)
This is Lori Carsons best album to date. It has the dark intensity and harsh beauty as her best work with the Golden Palominos and the lush minimalist production by Anton Fier adds to its power. Though I love all of her albums, I would recommend this as the perfect introduction to her solo work for those not familiar with this wonderful artist.

Down - But Good,
By
This review is from: Where It Goes (Audio CD)
I can't even tell you what made me purchase this disk when it was released. Something must have intrigued me enough to purchase it. I was not a huge Golden Palominos fan - but whatever the reason, it was an inspired purchase.I've been accused of liking 'down music' - or as a friend of mine says, 'down...but good'. This disk would qualify for that category. For the most part, the music and vocals are understated. Though sparsely arranged, the songs are complete - sometimes fragile, sometimes haunted, but always good. "Petal" is certainly a stand-out track, but there are many ("Down Here", "Where It Goes"). I believe the disk is still in print - so if you have the opportunity to pick it up - I suggest you do so.
