5.0 out of 5 stars Clever and funny chick lit, April 16, 2006
Jenny Colgan is a well known Scottish author of chick lit. she has written many books, all of which are very witty and memorable. "Amanda's Wedding" by Jenny Colgan is a must read.

"Where have all the boys gone" is about not being able to get a decent man in London and then moving up to a remote Scottish village where the men outnumber the women by some staggering statistic. It is basic chick lit, sweet and funny. It has a change of pace where it slows a little in the middle, but picks right up again.

Check out Amazon.co.uk for the full listing of Jenny Colgan's work and more reviews. The British observational style of humor is drier than the American, and I find it works well in this type of book, which otherwise could be come syrupy. However it is a matter of taste. Read one of Jenny Colgan's books, e.g. Amanda's Wedding, and you will be hooked. The trouble is Amazon.com doesn't stock many of her books, but you can order them from amazon.co.uk as I have done.

If enough people request them, I was told that Amazon.com will get the full listing of her books, but also check out ebay and ebay.co.uk. As you can see, I am a total fan of Colgan' work. I've lived in the UK and maybe that is why I am hooked, but even my friends who have never left Texas love them and I practically run a lending library to my friends and family of Colgan's titles. These include:

Amanda's Wedding

Talking to Addison

Looking for Andrew McCarthy

Working Wonders

Do You Remember the First Time?

Postcards From the Hedge

West End Girls

Short stories

Girl's Night In

Tart Noir

Scottish Girls About Town

Guardian Christmas Story

If you enjoy British Chick Lit, this is a fun book. I laughed out loud at Katie's antics.
