5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Twila album!, March 17, 2001
By
Soozie4Him (Chicago suburbs) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Where I Stand (Audio CD)
Twila released this album almost 5 years ago, but it continues to be one of my favorite Christian albums of all time.

As I type this, I'm listening to "Renewing the Heart Live" and Twila is on this radio show and is talking about her new album which will be released very soon "Bedtime Prayers, Lullabies and Peaceful Worship". Twila is pregnant and is due to deliver her first child (little Jack, named after her husband) very soon. I'm very much looking forward to the new album, but please buy "I Will Stand"!

The first track, "Love's Been Following You", really grabs your attention and is a song that you will find yourself singing this song as you go through your day. "Hold On" will encourage you as you go through hard times. "Faithful Friend" is a duet with Steven Curtis Chapman, and is excellent!

"Jesus in You" was written to children, saying that people shouldn't put them down because they're young, and is very upbeat and encouraging. "Honor and Praise" is another of Twila's wonderful worship songs.

"I Am Not Afraid Anymore" is one of the best tracks on this album, in my opinion. Here are the lyrics:

"I said I belonged to You But in a secret room, I kept a secret list I said, 'Anything for You' 'Anything but this, anything but this'...

I am not afraid anymore You have opened all the windows Opened all the doors I am not afraid anymore I feel the wind of freedom like I never did before The light is filling up the corners Dancing on the floor I am not afraid anymore."

"What Did He Die For" compares the death of a mother's son in World War II who died for our freedom and the death of God's son Jesus, who died to save our lives.

"I Will Listen" is my favorite song on this album...

"I don't know the way to go from here But I know that I have made a choice And this is where I stand Until He moves me on And I will listen to His voice"

A very fitting ending to a marvelous CD!

Please check out my other reviews of Christian books and music!

5.0 out of 5 stars Surrendering, November 27, 1999

Turly inspiring album. The song titled I Will Listen allows your soul to personally and privately surrender...to God. It is very reassuring after listening to the song to know God is going to be with you and it is a matter if we decide to Listen to him. It has helped me to get through a difficult time in my life....Very encouraging vocals.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of Twila's best!, December 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Where I Stand (Audio CD)
The follow up to the incredible "Beyond a Dream" album, stands up on it's own merit. This is a fine collection of engaging and challenging songs from a woman who has been doing this for over 2 decades. Though the album starts off a little too familiar with "Love's Been following You," Twila quickly goes into "Hold On," a song about holding on to Jesus during your times of struggle. "I am Not Afraid Anymore" and "House of Cards" call the listener to be strong and steadfast in their faith, which goes nicely with the Steven Curtis Chapmen duet, "Faithful Friend." The highlight of the album comes from "What did he die for?", a song paralleling a soldier giving his life in WW2 to Christ's giving His life for the world and the awesome responsiblity that we have due to another's selfless act. The album closes fittingly with "I Will Wait." A call to those being used by God to be ready, but wait on His time. This is truly a wonderful challenge and a wonderful album.

I received this C.D. as a gift, and find myself turning to it when I need a spiritual lift. I think it's a great gift to give to your friends and family. I just purchased one for my sister's birthday and I know she'll enjoy it as much as I do.

4.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Twila songs are on this one!, October 2, 2007
By
This review is from: Where I Stand (Audio CD)
All the songs on this CD are good and glorifying to God. There are two songs that really stand out above the others on this CD, and are among my very favorite Twila songs, these being "Hold On" and "Band of Survivors". These songs still bring me to goose bumps even after dozens of listens, for their musical quality and how they speak to me personally.

Here is a list of my favorite Twila Paris songs, my personal 'best of':

God Is In Control
Watch and Pray
Hold On
Band of Survivors
Destiny
I See You Standing
Every Heart That Is Breaking
Runner
Bonded Together
Lamb of God
A Heart That Knows You

Praise God for Twila Paris' ministry of music to the body of Christ!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Twila's best, February 18, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Where I Stand (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite Twila albums. The lyrics are insightful and thought-provoking. "What Did He Die for?" is a perfect example of that. And most of the melodies are catchy. "Faithful Friend" is a beautiful tribute to Christian fellowship, which makes this album a good gift for your best friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great purchase, January 4, 2007
By
This review is from: Where I Stand (Audio CD)
I loved this CD 10 years ago when I bought it during college, and I love it now. There aren't many CDs I've had that long that I still listen to, but this is one of them. This has a great variety of songs, and Twila's voice is...well, awesome! I picked this CD without knowing anything about Twila Paris, and I wasn't disappointed.

With majestic, peaceful, and upbeat songs, Twila Paris has presented a beautiful album that is a joy to listen to. With "Love's Been Following You," "Jesus in You," and "Faithful Friend," (a lovely duet with Steven Curtis Chapman), as well as others, Where I Stand will definitely please. :)
