Book Description

The Kodiak Books December 1, 2000
This is the first in a series of adventure novels that chronicles the exploits of George Kodiak-- cryptozoologist-- as he searches the dark and deadly places of the Earth for animal anomalies such as the Sasquatch and the Loch Ness Monster. In this premier outing Kodiak becomes the grudging pawn of billionaire Emory Pittman who, believing the Sasquatch is a reality, enlists Kodiak's service in capturing a specimen of this rare animal for his private zoo.

Future novels in this series will include the Honey Island Swamp Monster of Louisiana, Ogopogo of Canada, and Mokele-mbembe; the living dinosaur of Central Africa.

This series should appeal to anyone who enjoyed "Jurassic Park", "The Lost World", Clive Cussler's "Dirk Pitt" series, or "The X-files".

More About the Author

I am an author and artist living in Los Angeles. My fascinations range from natural history, to cryptozoology, to most things creepy and paranormal. I am the author of an adventure series titled THE KODIAK BOOKS, which follow the exploits of fictional cryptozoologist George Kodiak. These are adult adventures for a general fiction reading audience who enjoy adventures along the lines of Crichton, Cussler, Rollins, et al. The first title in the series, WHERE LEGENDS ROAM, is about the hunt and capture of the legendary Sasquatch. Book two, NAITAKA, takes place in British Columbia's Lake Okanagan and the search for its resident lake monsters. Book three is HERETOFORE: UNKNOWN, about Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp Monster, and also delves into the subject of New Orleans Voodoo. I am currently working on book four, BLOOD EYES, which will be about the Chupacabras.

My most recent novel, YGOR, is a break from that series and is a re-imagining of the Frankenstein saga as told first-person by the world's most famous lab assistant. While the emphasis in the story is on character (it details the four-year co-dependent relationship between Ygor and the Doctor, who is bi-polar, alcoholic, and suffers bouts of psychotic rage), it retains those horror elements which have drawn people to this fascinating subject throughout the years. I hope you'll check it out :)

I am also a former model maker for the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History, having specialized in lifesize models of dinosaurs and sharks, most notably. I still do free-lance projects from time to time, but these days I concentrate the majority of my efforts on writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Non-stop action!, June 22, 2005
This review is from: Where Legends Roam (The Kodiak Books) (Paperback)
This was a great book and I enjoyed every minute of it. The action sequences were great and I liked the way he slipped scientific information about Gigantopithecus into the book. Lee Murphy clearly has alot of talent and I look forward to reading Naitaka. Some people say Sasquatch, I say Sas-watch this author, cause he's going places!

5.0 out of 5 stars I was NOT going to read this book..., January 26, 2002

This review is from: Where Legends Roam (The Kodiak Books) (Paperback)
A few months back I came across Lee Murphy and his book at a Bigfoot conference I was attending.Without even picking it up I dismissed it as a book more suited to the R.L. Stine crowd.A few weeks ago a friend of mine gave me a copy.I politely thanked him for the book and unceremoniously tossed it in the back seat of my truck, where it stayed until I began to look for something to read the other day.I took it out with the intention of scanning the first couple of pages, bookmarking it,and throwing it up on the top shelf of my bookcase.I had no idea that my quiet evening at home was about to turn into a life and death adventure played out in the wilds of Washington State's Olympic National Forest.Murphy has taken a subject most people smirk about and has carved a very serious edge on it.Kodiak is a two fisted hero who comes across as a flesh and blood guy who isn't a super hero, just very capable. The villians are the kind you love to hate.Murphy weaves the various theories regarding the sasquatch into the story with great attention to detail and realism.I was NOT going to read this book...but I'll remember the night I did for a very long time!Don't miss this one folks!
