"Who's that hiding under the table?" Maisy and her friends are playing hide-and-seek. Share in Maisy's delight as she finds Charlie the crocodile (in plaid Bermuda shorts!) under the bed, Cyril the squirrel behind the shower curtain, and Eddie the elephant squeezed into the closet. Each big, easy-to-grip flap lifts to reveal another hidden friend. Fans of funny little Maisy mouse will love this simple interactive board book based on every preschooler's favorite game. As in Lucy Cousins's many other picture books, the bold, bright illustrations are outlined in heavy black, framed cleanly in white. The repetitive text ("Who's that hiding...?") will appeal to early readers as they begin to match the words to the pictures. Seek out all the rest of the absolutely charming Maisy books, including

PreSchool-Two more board books featuring the lovable mouse. In the first title, youngsters are invited to play hide-and-seek with Maisy and her friends. Cousins's signature bold acrylic illustrations outlined in thick black lines depict familiar objects such as a bed, table, closet, and bathtub, all set against a solid white background. When they lift the sturdy flaps, children will find Maisy along with a squirrel, elephant, duck, and alligator all hiding under, inside, or behind these objects. With simple one-sentence questions, the second book invites readers to guess where Maisy lives by showing dwellings such as a henhouse, pigpen, doghouse, and stable. The appropriate animals are discovered underneath sturdy flaps: "Oink! The pigs live here" and "Arf! The dog lives here." The animal sounds and simple sentences are perfect for babies and toddlers, and the basic repetitive texts are suitable for sharing in lap-sit programs.
