5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing debut album! June 22, 2012
By Sibuna
Format:MP3 Music
As a mostly metal man I was quite skeptical of an alternative rock album form a local band. However after seeing them preform live a number of times all the skepticisms were washed away, the brothers & friends from upstate NY definitely rock. The album has something for everyone, and fits solidly in the alternative rock genre, without being too hard or to whiny& Emo like many other bands. It has earned a permanent spot in my playlist. I highly suggest that everyone gives the album a serious listen, its worlds better than most of what comes out today. Can't wait to see what they do next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disregard the 1-star review. June 22, 2012
Format:Audio CD
This is a fantastic debut album from a bunch of hardworking guys in NY. An alternative rock sound that surpasses the norm these days. Please disregard the thoughtless 1-star review and give Underwater Tiger a listen ASAP.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catchy AND Talented! -Worth every dime- June 27, 2012
By auser
Format:MP3 Music
Although some people try to describe bands' talents based purely on genre or what they "sound like," I find it more helpful to describe the music itself.

Each member of Underwater Tiger contributes to this album, and you can hear it in every track. The main and backup vocals have a very wide range of pitch and volume, and there are countless points of harmonization among the vocals and the instrumentals. The vocal harmonies in "One November Night" are especially good at keeping your attention.

The drums are a KEY feature of this album, too. Contrast the intricacies of rhythm in the verses of "Bones" with the heavier, driving beats found in the bridge of "Treading Days" or throughout "The Summer Came." (Also keep in mind that the drummer IS the lead singer, an impressive feat for anybody.)

The lead, rhythm, and bass guitar riffs are seamless, each having their own times to come forth throughout the album - the wholly instrumental and ambient "Dioscuri" is particularly relevant. As an added bonus, I'm really impressed by how catchy the songs are, too, but that's something listeners will have to find out for themselves.

I would also point out that each track has its own sound, which is something hard to come by for many bands these days. Some are more like ballads, others straight up fast and hard rock (though certainly not metal - not what they're going for). Even within tracks there are distinct and contrasting portions. Sure, the lyrics are based heavily on issues with love and the ladies, but that's been around since, hmm... the fifties?

The point is - you're here reading reviews, and you've already considered buying the album. Give their songs an honest listen, and if you like this "genre," then chances are you'll be extremely happy with this purchase. (This album also has substantial longevity, at least so far.)

~An extremely satisfied listener

5.0 out of 5 stars My Underwater Tiger is better June 22, 2012
By Ryan
Format:MP3 Music
"my god when i heard this record all i could think was where have they been all my life. the breakdowns in their single "bones" are gritty and in the same vein of Taking Back Sunday, these boys are truly what indie/pop has been wating for"

Love vs Rock

"each song on the album is a pleasure both as an individual and as a part of the album, Underwater Tiger stand out from other bands with their melodic harmonies and the way in which all aspects of the album work together cohesively"
4.5 out of 5
Maddie Godfrey (noiseviolation.net)

"you will most likely find yourself singing along to the catchy lyrics and wishing it had lasted longer than it does. All in all for a debut album Underwater Tiger does a fantastic job at creating a very solid alternative rock album that i daresay would listen to again.
Audio Arsenal Magazine

It seems as though the album review you submitted here on Amazon has no basis what so ever. The qutoes you see above are from magazines and websites that actually listen to and review albums for a living. Theyre not written by a fan of a terrible classic rock band that apparently "draws influence" aka sounds EXACTLY like every band from the 60's and 70's. You can keep on hating on Underwater Tiger all you want but don't go out in public and make an ass out of yourself rating thier album 1 Star in some half hearted attempt to sabotage them. Their ever expanding fan base (which looks to be about 15 times larger on FaceBook) knows the truth about their music. In conclusion if you don't like the music thats fine, not everyone likes every kind of music, but do everyone a favor and keep it to yourself. Im sure your underwater tiger has a show at some dive bar, you better throw on your dale earnhardt tshirt get in your old trans am and get down there before the other 5 people show up, youre going to want to get a good spot up front

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid June 27, 2012

So I've seen these guys play a few times and decided to pick this bad boy up. The majority of the songs are pretty damn catchy and it proved to be an overall enjoyable experience.
