Compelling,fascinating read,

This review is from: Where the Money Is: True Tales from the Bank Robbery Capital of the World (Hardcover)
Ran across this, took it home and ended up spending half the night not being able to put it down. The authors present a compelling and often humorous look into the criminal mind of bank robbers. I've always enjoyed a good true crime book and this is one of the best I've seen in ages. Hope we see more from these two.

Unique Insight,
By A Customer
This review is from: Where the Money Is: True Tales from the Bank Robbery Capital of the World (Hardcover)
William Rehder and Gordon Dillow have teamed up to provide an exciting book which gives the reader an insight into the motives and techniques of bank robbers while feeling like he is reading a fast-paced novel. From his perspective as a prominent FBI agent, Rehder shares much information and insight into the field as he relates an overview of his 33 years of involvement with bank robbers. The book is thoroughly engaging as it relates the history of five major cases, each with a different theme. Where the Money Is provides a truly amazing and unique look at the crime of bank robbery. At the conclusion of the book, the reader feels as if he has shared the life, experiences and attitudes of an outstanding man who is passionate about his career in law enforcement.

fast, fun, entertaining,
This review is from: Where the Money Is: True Tales from the Bank Robbery Capital of the World (Hardcover)
This collection of great anecdotes from a career FBI agent is full of fascinating stories of bank robbers and their exploits. By turns exciting and humorous, the stories Rehder shares keep the reader involved and the pages flying. As a bonus, either Rehder or his co-author is really funny and has a way with words - lots of sharp, funny cop-talk. Perfect choice for a vacation, long flight, or weekend on the couch.

Real Life, not Hollywood's version of Bank Robbers,

This review is from: Where the Money Is: True Tales from the Bank Robbery Capital of the World (Paperback)
A fascinating look into the minds of the robbers as well as the F.B.I. Agents and LAPD Officers who pursue and catch them. It is trite to say, but neither I nor my wife could put this down. Having lived in LA at the time of some of these cases, I found that this book was a great look behind the scenes and headlines of some of the most riveting true crime tales in that ever seedy and sorted town. Buy this book !

in our media-saturated audio-visual age when most shows are crime dramas or reality shows (there should be a law prohibiting some of those shows), it comes as a welcome relief to read this live-action real-life tale about one very good guy (natch, the FBI co-author), and many bad guys who rob banks. You can learn more from this anecdotal-laced memoir than a years's worth of law & order episodes. I felt that I got good education about how banks operate and foil thiefs. I got an equally good education on how the FBI tracks down their sticky finger prey. All the action takes place in L.A. which is the bank robbery capital of the world. You can take that to the bank...

If you want to know about some of the oddest stories an FBI man working in the bank robbery division has to tell, this book is for you. It gives you an insight on what robbing banks is all about. Of course, he doesn't tell you how to rob a bank but simply by reading this book, you get an idea of what FBI agent looks for when chasing criminals and what criminals do to try to rob banks and get away.

WANT SOME GET SOME continues where "MONEY" left off,

So you like L.A. crime tales. Well check out Pam Ward's WANT SOME GET SOME and get an extra fix of bank robbery tales. WHERE THE MONEY IS candidly portrays L.A.'s most potent byproduct, Bank Robery. And Pam Ward with her mail man scammer and two smoking chicks, takes this genre to a new level with a thrilling highway to Vegas twist. I was flipping pages waiting to see what would come next. Even though this book was nice and thick, I didn't want it to end. I highly recommend both books for any theft fans including current thieves and those plotting behind bars. LAPD better take note.

Heard about this book on KABC via Doug McIntyre many years ago. It's about bank robberies that are committed in LA, the bank robbery capital of the world. Excellent. Non-fiction.
