PreSchool-Different animals ask the title question and receive an answer that depends on what each mother is doing, from waking up baby rabbit and washing baby skunk's face to bringing baby bird's food. The last to ask the question is a child, and the answer is, "Mommy is here!" The minimal text and large, soft watercolor illustrations are reminiscent of Nancy Tafuri's work. Each question is centered on its own white page with the baby animal opposite, followed by a spread filled with parent and baby, and the answer. The book's simplicity is underlined by this consistent pattern. This title will be comforting for babies, while for toddlers, the question can become a refrain and each answer, a guessing game. Mothers are a favorite subject for this age group. Make room for this one on picture-book shelves as it stands up admirably to the others.

Such a sweet, warm book to read to your little ones while cuddling with them. My children loved the story and the beautiful pictures, even my 8 year old thought the book was pretty neat.
