Help Kipper search for his lost teddy bear. Could he be hiding in the tree? Under the stairs? Peek into the holes, pull the tabs--and see who pops out.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

In this pop-up bedtime tale, Kipper, a floppy-earred dog, searches for his teddy bear in every nook and cranny that he finds. He looks in holes and under blankets; he asks mice, piglets and even the "pinky purple Bleeper People living on the moon" about his teddy's whereabouts. Fortunately for youngsters, Kipper's lack of success means pages of pull-tabs and flaps. The rhyming text is more often a miss than a hit ("This hole in the ground/ with a mound is a mole's!/ But this little home/ (without) is a vole's!") but Inkpen's open white spaces and endearing characters lend a peaceful, childlike charm to this friendly bear hunt, which ends with a neat surprise. Even though Kipper retires to bed empty-handed, readers will locate the teddy right under Kipper's toes (under a lift-the-flap blanket, at the foot of his bed), holding a flashlight that, when the flap is lifted, really does light up. Ages 2-5.

5.0 out of 5 stars an exceptional lift-the-flap book with a sweet story, June 30, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Where, Oh Where, Is Kipper's Bear?: A Pop-Up Book with Light! (Hardcover)
Kipper is looking for his teddy bear. Is it in the apple tree? No! Birds come flying out instead. Thus begins our odyssey into Kipper's world -- populated with mice, pigs and moon people (among others). Pop-ups are activated by lifting flaps and manipulating tabs. The latter may be difficult for young children, but they will most likely enjoy the action anyway.

The little surprise at the end is charming and sure to bring a smile to your little one's face.

Exceptionally well done.

Caveats: A few of the flaps are flimsy, so be careful if your child is rough on them. Kipper's usual friends (Pig, Arnold and Tiger) do not show up in the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my son's favorites!, September 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Where, Oh Where, Is Kipper's Bear?: A Pop-Up Book with Light! (Hardcover)
From the moment he received it, my twenty month old son has loved it. In fact, I plan on buying a second copy for him to keep. He has read and read this book to the point that the pages are rumpled and the tabs are bent. He loves to point out the cat, birds, and other objects as we read it together. He also enjoys looking at it himself when I am busy. I recommend it all the way!

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming book (even for myself) !!, October 23, 2000
This review is from: Where, Oh Where, Is Kipper's Bear?: A Pop-Up Book with Light! (Hardcover)
The title " A Pop-Up Book With Light " interest me in buying this book. I always like to look at children's book, because they're so innocent and simple. When I check it out myself, I found the illustration very funny and the ending is surprising. So I read it to my 10 months-old son and he wanted me to open the book again and again. He never did that with any other books. He seemed to be amused with the story and the pop-up pictures. My son and I really enjoy this book, and I want to hold on to it for my future kids to read. I just wish Mick Inkpen would create more of this type of book in the future...
