3.0 out of 5 stars Great for Grade School Children - Not Toddlers February 10, 2010
Format:Perfect Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this book for my three year old son, and while he still enjoys the book, it's not quite right for his age. He does like it, and he listens to it even though it's long for his attention span. The boys in the book are in grade school and they deal with transitioning between their parents homes. This a good book for divorced families where both parents are still involved in their childrens' lives.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for every scenario November 20, 2011
Format:Perfect Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this book for my future husband's children (7&11) as after reading the description, thought it would be a perfect aid for his kids in adjusting to life in a split family. I find it incredibly frustrating trying to find a book for kids about divorce that doesn't paint the father as an irresponsible (or not present) father.
In this book, the father's home is a place to eat pizza, play video games and the dad character is clueless to the schedule for the two boys. The mother's is, of course, a rule-abiding house of responsibility. I understand this is a sad fact of divorce, but is it so difficult to not paint the single fathers of the world in such a negative light? The father of my future step-children reflects none of these traits and seeing as the two copies of this book I bought won't be read by them, I feel pretty disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A teacher who understands divorce!!! June 27, 2008
Format:Perfect Paperback
I just finished reading this book and found it to be a must have for teachers to place on their book shelf. We as teachers all have children in our classrooms from divorce situations. I am a reading specialist and have worked with many students who come from divorce families and are torn about their feelings. Mrs. Ekster clearly has a wonderful insight and understanding about what the child is feeling and expresses it in her book in such a way that you know what the main character, Mark, has been going through. He is conflicted between his parents divorce and also knows that he needs to be a responsible young man when it comes to his obligations to school and to taking care of his younger brother, Evan. This book puts it into perspective in such a way that is humorous and meaningful. A must read for all classroom teachers, school counselors, principals and parents. A child, who is a product of a divorce, could read this and say, "Finally someone understands what I am going through!"
