3.0 out of 5 stars Good album, but a bit soft around the edges
This album is very well produced, with great sound quality and if it suits your musical tastes you will dig it. I guess it is reggae, but some of these songs could easily be in a Disney movie. I am not trying to write a negative review about an album with positive vibes, but if you are on the hunt for raw, roots reggae I would look elsewhere.

As one reviewer has already said, I would be a millionaire if I had a dollar for every time I listened to this album. If I am ever in need of cheering-up, or inspiration, all I have to do is put it on, and Luciano's smooth, soaring voice melts my burdens away. Reggae music is probably the closest thing I have to an organized religion, and this album is Holy scripture. This CD is so important to me that I have actually burned myself two back-up copies, just in case something should happen to the original!

It is my opinion that Luciano's message of brotherhood, reverence, joy, and righteousness is the most clear, uplifting, refreshing, and accessable message of ANY musical artist EVER. Many people say he is the next Bob Marley. I say he is the one and only Luciano. I have many friends and family who do not listen to reggae at all, but they are blown away when they hear his music. I strongly reccommend all of his albums, but in particular, "Where There Is Life," "A New Day," and "Serve Jah" are his most phenomenal so far.

As a side note, I have had the honor of meeting Luciano backstage after one of his AMAZING concerts, and I was so impressed with his humble nature, and willingness to sit and talk to one of his fans. He was truly put here on this earth to bring a message of faith and unity to the people, and I will be listening to that message until the day I die. I will leave you with the words he left me with. "Let Jah Light be seen in you always."

5.0 out of 5 stars "Let Jah rise and the heathen scatter!", January 7, 1999
By A Customer

When I first heard this record back in '95 I liked it, but now since I have bought it again I love it even more. Luciano is roots music like it is truly meant to be. His message is one identical to that of the late Garnet Silk, love is the only answer. Bless Jah and give ises, Selassie I.

5.0 out of 5 stars Consciousness at its best, January 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Where There Is Life (Audio CD)
'Where There is Life' is an album that if I had a dollar for everytime I've played it, I would be a millionaire. Conscious and rightous verses fill every song from Luciano, making this album absolutely inspiring. Songs such as 'It's me again Jah', 'Lord give me strength', 'Your world and mine', 'He is my friend', and 'In this together' can elevate anyone from despair; and bring upliftment and positive vibrations to all the massive. Respect

5.0 out of 5 stars Transcendent Reggae with a Spiritual Base, January 16, 2005

Comparisons to Bob Marley, list most musical comparisons, is not really fair... Luciano has his own voice and style...but there IS something to the substance of the songs and vitality of the singing and lyrics that DOES echo Bob Marley! I am not religious, but the spiritual foundation of Luciano's work, like Marley before him, taps into a universal spiritual consciousness beyond any specific religious perspective. Moreover, the overwhelming direction is uplifting and hopeful, despite the struggles and difficulties of being human.

Amazing stuff! I am almost weary about getting another Luciano CD for fear of being disappointed...Of course I will!!! (and I will have to buy this again on CD - I lost my cassette of this album travelling on the train to Toronto during Christmas holidays just past).

In my opinion (albeit, as a White Canadian nearing middle-age) Only Ziggy Marley's "Spirit of Music" comes close to the excellence and universiality of Bob Marley & the Wailers' music.
Cheers.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best reggae CDs ever - very uplifting!, October 12, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Where There Is Life (Audio CD)
This CD has been one of my long-time favorites - from Luciano and within the reggae genre overall. I think this is actually the third time I've purchased this CD, as over the years the others were scratched, lost, etc - anyway, it's THAT good! If you're looking for some very easy, uplifting, inspirational grooves to bop your head to, this CD is a must-have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth it!, March 12, 2007
This review is from: Where There Is Life (Audio CD)
I used to listen to Luciano when my friends played it in their cars, etc. Now that I have relocated to another state, I don't get to listen to it anymore. I decided to purchase this CD myself. It is AWESOME! I love it. I sing along with it (even though I cannot sing) and think of how appreciative I am with what I have been given/have and what things I look forward to. I would recommend it to someone else.
