More About the Author

Terra Little is a native of Missouri, where she is an educator, lecturer, and mother of a teenage daughter. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis; Lindenwood University; and the University of Phoenix. She holds Bachelor of Science Degrees in Criminology and Sociology, and Master of Arts Degrees in Counseling and Secondary Education.

In 2008, Terra Little's previously self-published title, Running from Mercy, made its debut onto the literary scene as part of a traditional publishing deal that allowed readers all over the world to discover her voice. Since then, Terra has gone on to create characters that readers can hear, touch, and feel, garnering herself an ever-growing following of discerning fans and ensuring that hers is a literary voice that will be around for years to come.

Before giving in to the call of a creative muse that has haunted her since childhood, Terra dabbled in several career fields, including healthcare, finance, retail, and secretarial. Her daughter, Sierra, was in elementary school when Terra returned to the classroom to pursue higher education. A graduate of the University of Missouri, Lindenwood University, and the University of Phoenix, she holds Bachelor's Degrees in Criminology and Sociology, and Master's Degrees in Professional Counseling and Secondary Education. She worked as a probation/parole officer for nearly a decade before transitioning into the field of Education, where she is currently employed.

Among the many noteworthy book review sources, RAWSISTAZ Literary Group has called Terra's work "a literary smash"; Urban Reviews has cited Terra's work as being "a definite winner"; and APOOO Books has included Terra's work on its "favorites" list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprising and Well Worth It, August 12, 2009
This review is from: Where There's Smoke (Paperback)
The cover of this book steered me away for so long, but baby let me tell you it was great from cover to cover I loved it. Smoke was a trip and he got Anne to give it up. It was hilarious because he was eyeing her wondering where her bras were, lol. I loved it. It taught a valuable lesson that everyone has a past. Anne picked up her pieces and put her life together beautifully while raising a son alone. If you do not have this novel please grab it. It was wonderful and so different then the average street book. I wouldn't even call it street fiction. I'd just call it good!

4.0 out of 5 stars You Can Run, March 10, 2009
This review is from: Where There's Smoke (Paperback)
You Can Runā¦

Where There's Smoke by Terra Little is a cautionary tale about how what one does in the dark can come to the light. Or, more appropriately, when a person changes his life that does not mean people or situations from the past will not find them.

Alec Avery is now a professional, a teacher, who is doing well and giving back to his community. He is respectable and all that a black man should be. Especially, since he gave up a life of drug-dealing to better himself and his situation. He is doing everything right, so surely nothing can go wrong. That is true until he discovers that he just might be a father. Not only a father, but father to a teen son he did not know existed. Will Alec, or rather Smoke, the name he used when he was dealing drugs, really be a father? Or is the boy's mother, Anne, confused or manipulative, considering she is a former crack addict?

Ms Little does a good job of exploring the lives of people who were on different paths until they decided to change. She presents the characters and the situations realistically and allows the reader to know that change is more than a word, it involves action. I really enjoyed Where There's Smoke and recommend it to readers who enjoy well-told, realistic stories.
