4.0 out of 5 stars Just about anything Sandy did is worth having, November 22, 2009

This review is from: Where The Time Goes - Sandy '67 (Audio CD)
Sandy Denny had one of the finest voices in music. The recent reissue program that includes the solo albums, the Fairport Convention albums and the two Fotheringay projects will certainly provide most fans with enough top-notch material. But, if you are inspired to dig deeper, you'll want the box sets AND this album. "Where the Time Goes" fills in a few gaps from Sandy's early projects and provides more proof that she was among the best in Pop, Rock, Folk; anything she tried.

I've been looking for the earliest work of Sandy Denny for many years. I had the first Strawbs album, but wanted the rest. And here it is, lovely to listen to, from majestic to naive, soulful to light hearted. Sandy Denny was a master voice for all time from her start to finish. Her work is ever haunting and lovely. If you love her standard stuff, you'll enjoy most of this album as well. It is not just for completist collectors. It's more of the same wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Folk-rock Gem from 1967, August 2, 2010
This review is from: Where The Time Goes - Sandy '67 (Audio CD)
In 1967, Sandy Denny and The Strawbs briefly joined up to create this gem of British folk rock. Criminally ignored on its release and sadly near forgotten for decades, it has received the royal treatment on this reissue. Excellent remastering and terrific bonus tracks. Sandy and Dave Cousins are both in fine voice individually but their harmonies are near-perfect. Essential listening for fans of folk rock and psychedelia. It has two versions of 'Who Knows Where the Time Goes' -- the second is almost definitive. When commercial success proved elusive, Sandy Denny moved on to Fairport Convention and The Strawbs became an influential prog rock group. But this album is young, brash, confident, and very special. A time capsule from the universe of what might have been.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time in a Bottle, August 5, 2010

This collection of early works of Sandy Denny was released in 2005. My first association with her and some of these works were in the early 1960's in Boston. While I never had the privilege of seeing her, she was in Europe at the time; we became acquainted with her work from artists like Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and others. I was in the United States Army, President Kennedy had just been assonated and we were plunging into war in Southeast Asia as rapidly as we could. When I first heard the beautiful sounds and words of her music again I was moved to the depths of my soul. So much time has passed, so many things changed forever and yet her talent still shines in the gathering darkness of our world.

For those who thought our friend was gone forever you will be blessed by this very faithful and thoughtful effort displayed in this CD. For those of you who have never heard her sing you are in for a truly wonderful experience. Sit back and let the years roll away or discover a work of art long thought to have been lost.
