This is a great CD that I never get tired of listening to. There's an excellent mix of music here, from old style blues like "Slow Blues in A" to "Bring it With You When You Come" that has the fastest beat of any blues song I know of. Lots of good harmonica work and some very interesting vocal stylings. Good stuff - can't recommend it enough.

For late 60s blues. Siegel- Schwall is pretty pursit.
A microphone, a guitar, a bass, drums, and a I IV V progression. At its essence, that is blues, and this is what this compilation covers so well. Even the pillars of blues--BB, Muddy, and the Wolf were modernizing their production, while Cream and Butterfield were cross breeding the music with jazz and raga. Siegel-Schwall would evidently have none of it, and except for the clarity of audio, this material could have been recorded in 1950. Pure, clean, and excellent |
