4.0 out of 5 stars He shall overcome!, July 23, 2004
This review is from: Where Were You When I Was Hurting? (Paperback)
In this book it tells of Jay Bakkers childhood. He was brought up in Jimmy Bakkers Praise the Lord televangilist family.

Until his father lost everything he was raised in the shadow of this tv ministry. He was Happy, and given everything a young boy could want and a body guard. One day thoughhis father had a 15 minute affair to make Tammy jelious and this started the decent in which he lost everything, his security, money, home, and family. He tells how his fathers incarceration affected him, and the love that he still has for his family. He tells that to deal with his pain he turned to drugs and alchohol. But even through these times were hard and he almost gave up on the lord , the lord never gave up on him. He emerged from this and started a minestry for those who don't fit the mold of a traditional church going christion. SO see he overcome.

The only thing I felt needed a little more work was I felt it should of had a little more detail on the PTL, and some more imput from James Bakkers in the form of responses to his son would of melted it all together.
