This game is not for anyone who enjoys strategy or complexity. You do a lot of running and jumping and climbing and swinging from things. You collect little energy balls, skulls and fruit. I was looking forward to some interesting graphics and special effects but most of the action is medium resolution and not very exciting. There are none of the magical visual moments I was looking forward too. Your POV in the game is a good distance from the action in the short battles you have with bugs, so there isn't a great deal of skill involved. This is not for the serious gamer. It is less dark and scary than the film and therefore better for younger kids.
BTW, my copy came with a "ticket" worth $7.50 off the price of the movie. So if you want to see the flick and buy the game you might want to get the game first.

I orignally got this game for my niece and started to play it to find out if a six year old could play. Mind you, I play games like Gears of War, Halo, Uncharted, etc. This game is not only fun but a breath of fresh air. I stopped playing FEAR 2 to play this game. I think my mind was getting a little tired of the gore and evil. Anyway back to the game..
Okay it's the Wii so we won't go into the graphics (Atleast it's not ugly). I like the variety in gameplay. You are not just beating things with a stick. And the tasks are just enough to not become monotunous. A cute and compeling story that makes you feel good to play. I would recommend for all above the age of 8 because of its difficulty.

Good Adventure game for kids(and adults too!),

My 8 year old son loves this game as well as my husband. It is hard to find adventure games for kids that are not too violent. The "enemies" in the game are big wasp-type bugs of differing varieties, and black goo.I like that it is a club that the character Max swings(no guns etc)Every "puzzle" is simple enough,
but challenging too; just right. My husband and I loved the Baulders gate series for the play-station, and we have been looking for a good not-too-violent adventure game for our son. Here it is.

My son loves this movie, and I love this game! It's easy enough for my 6 year old, but fun enough to keep me entertained. :) Worth the money.

My six year old son has played many a Wii game this past year, but this one has very quickly become one of his very favorites. Why? It's so very beautiful and it really allows him to use his imagination. The challenges are somewhat basic but they're all exhilarating, mainly because the world you explore is fascinating and rich. Without question his favorite thing to do is fly with the use of Douglas's feathers; he spends a lot of time in the village flying to explore and then hugging the various wild things before dancing with them. Clearly there's something about this game that frees his imagination -- when he thinks I'm not listening, I hear him making up stories and games he plays with the wild things as they run and dance around the village. As a parent I really like this game much better than the others we have, as it's much less violent and much more imaginative and interactive than most. [Indeed, I have to sometimes encourage him to knock down plants with his sceptre because he would much rather grow Judith a pretty garden -- that's a change!]

I just recently purchased a Wii system about 4 months ago and rented this title for my son. It was new and I thought it might be fun. well he was a little intimidated by it after he found out the monsters attack him after he throws a dirt ball at them.. My son is only 5 years old, SSooooooooOOO? anyway he stopped playing it but i continued to play it cause well i did'nt have any games at the time cept for the stupid Wii sports that came with the console!! I finished it in like 2 and a half days.. This game is actually pretty cool-!! It has great graphics like the scenery and good renderings, very pleasant to look at! Controls are pretty smooth and easy to master. Levels are easy but challenging, not too frustrating!! The replay is also good on this game because you can go back and find new things and unlock stuff. The free roam is fun as well since you have many places to explore and go to!! All in All not a bad game, I've seen many worthless titles on the Wii and this game is above average, nice and fun!! 4 out of 5 stars...

I originally rented a couple of games at Christmas and Where the Wild Things Are was the one that everyone played and couldn't put down, so of course we had to buy it.
If you have trouble with motion sickness when playing video games like I do, you will find this one ok to play (there are a few areas when you have to run and slide that I had to have someone else take over & get me thru). The graphics are very good for the wii and you have 3 choices for level of difficulty, so you can re-play at a harder level to test your skills. I play a lot of basic video games and this was neither frustrating in skill level or boring in storyline or figuring out what you needed to do to next. Is entertaining for younger kids 7-8+ aswell as adults who occasionally pick up their kids controller !!! Not for the serious or expert gamer as they would probably find this mundane or boring. Is a wholesome game, not much violence.....you do have to use your Kings wand to kill bees (otherwise they zap your life) and this sticky growing tar-like substance. As far as video games go the violence & killing is minimal because you dont have weapons as such, only a stick with a little star on top (kings wand).

Like most movie tie in games, you run around and hit stuff and collect various items. It's not really a platformer, since you can't really die, and there aren't really any puzzles. That said, it looks decent, and if you liked the movie it's fun enough to run around the island.

This game is very simple and it's very dull. The graphics aren't great and you have to use the nun chuck to move.
