Definitely a classic. I love reading this aloud to my 5 month old daughter. The illustrations are fun to look at, and the story is great!
It's about a child who gets into a bit of mischief, and his mother sends him to his room without any supper. His room turns into a forest, and then an ocean appears. A boat then takes him to an island where the wild things are. His subsequent adventures there leads him to have roaring fun with the wild things, but he misses home.
It's a fun book to read with your child!

One of my favorite books from my childhood. This edition is really nice and the print quality is great. I can't wait until my son can sit still long enough to get through the whole thing! The size of the book and print are really nice and the kids can see everything.

This classic by Maurice Sendak is a treasure! It was one of my childrens' favorite books. Both the illustrations and text are flawless and entertaining. I bought it for volunteer reading and will purchase again for my grandchildren. I used to work in early childhood education for ten years and have almost 500 childrens' books for all ages! Through those experiences, I understand which books are winners or duds! Try reading it at the library first and for sure you will want it for your kids! Also, I supplement this story with puppets and stuffed animal beasts from the story. You can purchase some on amazon and for what you can not find look on websites such as e- bay or etsy. Read this story to my children while they were growing up and since they enjoyed it so much decided that my granddaughter should have her own book of this children's classic. She loves it!

When you read this to your kids, you can not be too dramatic. There are so few words, you can't just read it flat. So read it like this: The NIGHT!....MAX! wore his WOLF SUIT!, and made MISCHIEF!,,,, of ONE! kind,,,, and ANOTHER!,,,, his MOTHER called him WILD! THING!
Remember, this is a book about a naughty child who was misbehaving b/c he was tired, taking a nap and having a dream. But you have to read it from the perspective of a child going through it.
We've got a really lot of mileage out of this book over the years at our house, and it is one of my favorite books to give as a birth present, a birthday present, or whatever.

My son loved it, my neices and nephews loved it and of course I did too. Always fun to read and a delightful fantasy that plugs into little kids joys and fears. Very popular in our households

Beautiful pictures. Must say Maurice has quite the artistic ability. The story it's self is just average and short though, although it might be perfect for a child that can't sit for a long period of time.
