I received this as a gift from my brother, and I fell in love with it. First, it honors our family's unspoken law that a child should be fed, along with fresh vegetables, a certain amount of harmless nonsense. Second, it honors (if only by omitting overt explanations to the contrary) families that may have been made in nontraditional ways. My sons both came to me through adoption, and I'm so pleased that this sweet story is just as resonant for us as for a family made through biology. It's well-done and beautifully illustrated, and printed with quality materials. All-around kudos.

Such a darling book! My kids (4.5 years) love it and request it over and over! A keeper!

We LOVE this book in our house! It's silly and fun to read and easy for kids to pick up after a few readings. We've given this book for a few baby gifts because it's so beautiful. Great illustrations and cute story!

This is one of my favorite children's stories... it's such a personal story of mother father and child. I love the illustrations, so delicate and simple!

I purchased this for my daughter who is almost 4. She loves the drawings as well as the story itself which is basically a boy asking his parents where he came from. His parents respond with a variety of far fetched scenarios (floating down a river in a basket, in the sale food bin at the grocery store, etc. ). It's very cute and very nicely put together. I would definitely recommend this book.

I was so excited for this book to arrive - and when it finally did I was the furthest from disappointed. Wonderful story, my son is still quite small but I look forward to curling up with him and sharing this treasure with him. I have my fingers crossed that O'Leary and Morstad get together for another book very soon - I will buy whatever they write/illustrate next!

This book is an instant classic--everything a kid book should be: fun/whimsical/ and a jumping off point for conversation. Both my 2 and 4 year old love it. Really appealing drawing style. Nice binding to boot. A total home run in our house.
