This review is from: Where's My Mummy? (Hardcover)
WHERE'S MY MUMMY? is the perfect book for the Halloween season.Baby Mummy, like any small child, doesn't want to go to bed. He asks his Big Mama Mummy for one more game of Hide and Shriek. So while his mama counts, he goes off to hide. Baby Mummy starts off his game in the cemetery, only to have a visitor come out and tell him to go to bed. Saying he's not scared, he ventures off into other scary places. Baby Mummy meets a variety of scary creatures (perfect for Halloween) without showing any fear. It's only when the most un-scary creature crosses his path does Baby Mummy call out in fear for his mummy. WHERE'S MY MUMMY? is a treat for all ages. Most kids will do what they can to get a few more minutes of staying up. Baby Mummy is no exception. The scary folk he encounters during his game of Hide and Shriek are far from scary. The story will entertain children of all ages. With repetitive words through each adventure, small children will be shouting out the phrases in no time! My 8-year-old son read the story to me with many chuckles along the way, and then my 5-year-old daughter caught on to the repeating words early on to help finish the story. Pick up WHERE'S MY MUMMY? for a frightfully fun read! Reviewed by: Jaglvr

This wonderfully written and illustrated book takes you on a tour through the grave yard with baby mummy, where we meet dracula, skeleton and other halloween characters. The rhythm of the story makes it easy for young ones to remember; my son had it memorized after the fourth read. The characters are presented in a fun, non-scary way.My three year old loves it, and I do too!

This adorable read aloud is a nice Halloween-y treat for youngsters. Sweet and silly rhymes combine with wonderful illustrations (that are just creepy enough to be fun but not scary) to create a delightfully spooky story.

My almost 3 year old son loves this book. He loves anything "spooky" and chose this book himself. He asks us to read "the spooky mummy book" each night before bed. When we turn the pages he says "ooohhh, spookies" and is thrilled with each page. He likes to find spiders and little things on each page. Bones is not wearing pajamas but a swimsuit according to my little guy. My Husband and I enjoy reading this book. The story is fun, engaging and is so sweet. The first time we read this together my little guy pointed to baby mummy and mama mummy and said "just like mommy and Ian."

I LOVE this book! The children in my family cannot get enough of it. I have not gotten tired of reading it to them! It's a great read and kids love it when you change your voice for the characters. As a early childhood teacher I read plenty of books and this is a must have. Kudos to Crimi for a children's classic in my book =)

Chills and Thrills,

This review is from: Where's My Mummy? (Hardcover)
We found this at the library, helpfully labeled with a sticker reading "Chills and Thrills". My four-year-old, an avid monster connoisseur, can't get enough of it. My two-year-old also likes it, but I'm not sure how much she really gets it and how much she's just imitating her sister. The book is a perfect blend of spine-tingling creepiness combined with silly humor to provide a thrill without actually scaring young children. The story chillingly begins, "On a deep, dark night, in a deep dark place," raising little anticipatory goose bumps, and then continues, "Little Baby Mummy did not want to go to bed." He wanted to play another game of "Hide and Shriek" with Big Mama Mummy. It's rather hard to be too frightened when you're giggling. Little Baby Mummy goes off to hide, but Big Mama doesn't seem to be coming, so Little Baby Mummy sets off to look for her. He enters a few "deep, dark" places and encounters a skeleton, a blob and a vampire, but he's not scared! But then Little Baby Mummy encounters something really scary. Fortunately, Big Mama Mummy is there and all is right with the world. The illustrations are also a perfect blend of the creepy and the humorous. All the pictures are set in scary places - a grave yard, a "spookery" woods, a swamp, etc. - but yet the denizens of said places are both charming and disarming. It's almost impossible to be afraid of a skeleton in purple shorts gargling green goo. My daughter has had issues with being afraid of monsters, so I'm bit leary of creepy monster books. But on the other hand, she's drawn to such books, perhaps as a way of mastering her own fears, and I've learned to trust her lead. Such books, including and especially this one, have a way of poking gentle fun at fears in a way that makes them not so scary. I recommend this book for the young monster connoisseur in your life.

My son is almost 2, and he loves this book so much. He wants me to read it to him at least twice a day! He also has been memorizing it very well, so I like that about it. And it is so cute that I don't get tired to read it to him. He likes this book so much that I'm getting a new copy, ours was not hardcover and so it's hurting. I'm also buying a copy for the daughter of a friend who just turned 1. Great Book!
