I am a Where's Waldo (Wally here in oz) collector, but when I had a look at this book in the store I couldn't bring myself to buy it. It is mostly a reproduction of "The Ultimate Fun Book" that was published in 1990. That is why the book is not up to Handford's current standards.

There are some fun scenes in this book (actually, just 2), and the rest is a bit simple compared to the previous books. If you got all Waldo books so far, go ahead and purchase, but prepare to be dissapointed. Never bought a Waldo book before? Get any of the previous ones instead.

It all feels a bit empty, I see a lot of empty space in several scenes (the maze one, opposing armies). There's a also an added boardgame, which is a simple dice throwing/100% luck game, and a circus you can set up (just a couple of benches with crowd, and a few circus people).

I sincerely hope mr Handford can pick up the pace again from the last few books (Hollywood, Wonder book, Great Picture Hunt), because in my humble opinion, this is a step back from those.

The Incredible Paper Chase offers seven spreads with the traditional Waldo walking right through the fun. Our favorite was the prehistoric page, with dinosaurs of every color and shape playing games and goofing around. There are plenty of red and white striped bodies to keep Waldo hidden, plus we were side-tracked several times trying to figure out what the dinosaurs were up to. Some of them

Waldo seekers will also enjoy a castle page with the red army fighting the blue; a page full of postcards featuring characters from Waldo's travels; a ferocious man-eating monster gobbling soldiers; armies battling each other wearing dog masks; lines of soldiers standing at attention (this one appears easier, but it isn't); and a hedge maze with lots of lost travelers caught inside. The last puzzle is an enormous party featuring Waldo faces on banners and lots of red and white streamers, making it the most daunting of the bunch.

What sets this book apart from the previous Waldo books is some three dimensional fun at the back of the book. The Muddy Swampy Jungle Game consists of a playing board, wacky Waldo rhyming cards and counters to move about the board. Just roll a die and follow the instructions on each spot until one player reaches the finish line. The Wacky Wado Circus is three pages full of perforated circus performers and characters. Simply punch out all the pieces and set up your own Waldo big tent. I think it's neat that they are trying to provide some additional materials in addition to the traditional Waldo hunt.

I bought this book as a prize for my 7-year old for filling up a row on his good behavior chart. He is a Waldo book lover, just like his mom and dad. We got the book today, and my son and I were very disappointed to see many scenes repeated from previous books. Sure, there is the added quest of finding the "notebook paper," but it would have been a much more appealing challenge if it were in new scenes. There are punch-outs and a game, but we weren't buying this book to play a Waldo game.

The only good part to this story was that I contacted Amazon, and they gave me a full refund ($6.81) and let me keep the book! Great customer service! I will take the refunded money and purchase "Where's Waldo: The Great Picture Hunt" which my son and I know has different scenes than other Waldo books that we own.

I gave this book 2 stars only because it is a nice looking book (sharp, bright colors and no wear) and for newer Waldo fans, this would be an ok book to buy.

I loved Waldo books when I was a kid, and still appreciate the intricacy and creativity today as an adult. So I recently bought the entire set, in hardback.

As I expected, the original Waldo books are better than the more recent ones, just as the original mom and pop shop is better than the franchised version. I still think this book is worth buying if you've exhausted the other Waldo books, but it's lacking a lot of the creativity and character of the original Waldo books. Some of the scenes are just strange.

Where's Waldo? The Incredible Paper Chase is a great book if you, or your child, aren't avid Waldo seekers. There's plenty of activities that go beyond the simple task of finding Waldo that young readers will enjoy.

However, if you're a Waldo fan, and have already purchased/read The Ultimate Fun Book, then you might want to skip this one. A lot of the pages are copied from the earlier book, and the games/activities aren't unique or intriguing enough to make up for the lack of new pages.

My little one loves it. This is the only book she was missing in the 7 book series, and I searched high and low for it. This is the only place I was able to find it, and I was not disappointed. It is the same large oversized book as the others that she has. It arrived within the time frame offered as well.
