1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time and money, March 28, 2008
By
This review is from: Where's the Wheat?: Food Storage Your Family Will Eat (Paperback)
There are no words in the English language to express my disappointment in this book. I was led to expect a book on survival preparedness, specifically in the area of food storage and use. Imagine my surprise to open it and find, as the title page "Poems of Truth Ministry" and the next 49 pages filled with lame religious "poetry" and equally lame pencil drawings that I assume are meant to be inspirational. I was NOT inspired. When I finally got to the content that the book's cover had led me to expect, I found nothing that I had not already read elsewhere. Even the recipes leave much to be desired since many, if not most, call for fresh ingredients that are not likely to be available during an emergency of any length. They also call for the use of microwaves and blenders which, in the event of a major power failure, won't be working unless you have a generator with a lot of fuel on hand. All in all, not terribly useful.
I can't recommend this book to anyone for anything and I won't be buying any more books from either AuthorHouse (listed publisher of the "poetry") or 1st Books Library (listed as the publisher of the rest of it). I'd rate it ZERO stars if the review program would let me.

5.0 out of 5 stars I saved 50% at the grocery store, June 12, 2003

This book was so easy to read. There were many great ideas for saving money. I planned out what foods I would need for a year. The blank meal planning sheets were invaluable for this project. I went to the grocery store with list and coupons in hand. I bought most foods on sale with coupons, I literally cut my food bill in half. I also found the lists of how long food could be stored helpful. As a working mother, I found this book to be a great resource. I have recommended it to everyone I know. Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Where's the wheat? Where's the info?, May 8, 2008
This review is from: Where's the Wheat?: Food Storage Your Family Will Eat (Paperback)
Awful with a capital off.... Sorry, I thought long and hard after reading this thing for something nice to say, there just isn't anything. Perhaps the worst book ever on home storage.

Store 300 lbs. of HAMBURGER? This is a preparedness book??? Most of this book/booklet is double or triple spaced, so there seems to be only 200 or so words per page. And that says nothing about the pages of NORMAL recipes- very few actually use STORAGE items. Double or triple spaced "checklists" and "recipes" are just FILLER. Even in the 10 or so pages of actual info, I found next to nothing that would be helpful even for a beginner. I had several others read this book and the results were similar. Sorry but this book is awful.
