Continued greatness,
By Music Lover (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wherever You Are (Audio CD)
Third Day's new album 'Wherever You Are' continues Third Day's legacy of releasing great albums. A personal favorite is Cry Out To Jesus which is a wonderful song that really hits home when thinking of people going through tough and tragic times. The album starts out with a fast paced song called Tunnel which is great for those that love the fast paced songs. The song Communion was written after the band saw 'The Passion of the Christ' so I found that to be an inspired song as well. This album has all tempos and has something for everyone. Something pretty cool about this release is that there are 3 different album covers. In order to be able to pick you'd have to go to your local Christian bookstore vs. the ease of ordering it over the internet but a couple of the album covers are pretty cool. Give this album a listen and you won't be disappointed!

Better than an anti-depressant,

Third Day is Christian music's saving grace - perhaps more accurately, Third Day is my saving grace when it comes to Christian music. The genre seems heavily weighted with unoriginal melodies, sappy lyrics, and covers of worship songs. With Mac Powell's voice and their pure musicianship (is that a word?), Third Day gives Christian music some "street cred."
Not that you can tell that from this cover. The record label must have thought that the boy-band look would sell more records. I hope they don't take the credit when this one tops the charts. "Wherever You Are" has become my favorite Christian album of 2005, and the reason why is a beautiful paradox. There are threads of pain, guilt, grief, and doubt woven through the entire disc, yet each song leaves the listener with an account of love, hope, grace, power and provision. As an example, take the first stanza off the cd, in their song "Tunnel": I won't pretend to know what you're thinking / I can't begin to know what you're going through / I won't deny the pain that you're feeling / But I'm gonna try to give a little hope to you Who needs Wellbutrin? Take this instead, and listen until your perspective changes.

Third Day has once again put together an album that is terrific musically as well as having solid Christian lyrics.
This album really speaks to those who are struggling with issues in life (everyone). It does so in a positive way that focuses on the solution to every problem - Jesus. There are several good songs on this album and no bad ones. There are three real standout songs in my opinion. 'Cry Out To Jesus' has received a lot of airplay on the radio. It speaks to those who are dealing with death, troubled marriages, loneliness, and the other struggles of this life. It provides a solution: Cry out to Jesus. 'Tunnel' is a very energetic song relating that there is light at the end of this tunnel. Finally, 'Communion' is a powerful song that portrays the power of this remembrance of the Savior of the World with a great modern sound. As with virtually anything recorded by Third Day, I highly recommend this CD.

Third Day keeps getting better and better,

I am in my fourties and grew up listening to bands like Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith. I am now a born again Christian but still enjoy listening to rock music. When I first heard Third Day I loved their music because of the rock beat and spiritual lyrics. There music seems to get better and better with the release of every CD. This 'Whereever You Are' CD is by far their best CD to date.

Great even for secular music listeners such as myself.,

I like a few Christian bands such as Switchfoot, Lifehouse, Relient K, and I would recommend this band to anyone who likes any good rock music. This album is more about love and hope than worship, which is good. I don't want to feel like I'm in church while listening to a CD. I prefer "Come Together," "Wire," and "Wherever You Are" to their "Offerings" albums. Those are bland church albums, but "Wherever You Are" is much better and I would recommend it to any secular rock music listener. Good job Third Day!

Third Day has been around for about 10 years, and is with Jars of Clay one of the best "Christian rock" bands out there, bringing a string of very enjoyable albums. This is their 7th studio album.
"Wherever You Are" (12 tracks, 51 min.) starts off with a romping "Tunnel", reminding me of Travis' "Writing to Reach You", just great. Other highlights include "I Can Feel It", bringing urgency and uptempo rock; "Keep on Shining", with uplifting lyrics, and "How Do You Know", another hard-hitting rocker. "Communion" brings a great reflection on what communion is about. There are a couple of great "power ballads" such as "Carry My Cross" and "Love Heals Your Heart", just beautiful. The epic 6+ min. closer "Rise Up" is a fitting end to the album. Third Day continues to prove that "Christian rock" doesn't have to be boring, in fact the band has never been better than this. "Wherever You Are" is a great listen from beginning to end, and is highly recommended! And if you have a chance to see Third Day in concert, don't miss them, they do rock!

I got this cd as an early Christmas present and from the first track to the last one I was amazed. I first heard Third Day on a Christmas cd that I had got at Target and I fell in love with their sound. Wherever You Are is the first album by Third Day that I own but will not be the only album, I will be getting their other cds. While it is hard for me to pick a favorite song, I have to go with Cry Out To Jesus and Eagles. This is a wonderful cd which has not left my cd player since I got it. I highly suggest it to anyone. Just go and get it, it's worth it.

This CD is "Hope" in a jewelcase! Hope for those who are going through the loss of loved ones, hope for those who have lived through natural disasters, and hope for the soul of mankind. All delivered with Mac Powell's dark chocolate vocals, and Third Day's southern rock style! "Cry Out to Jesus," "Communion," and "Carry My Cross" are my favorites on the CD. I also like the upbeat "Tunnels," "Eagles," "How do You Know," and "Rise Up." In fact, there isn't a song on this CD that I don't like! I Highly Recommend this CD!

Solid Effort from a Solid Band,

After critically acclaimed releases "Wire" and "Live Wire" (which I personally thought were lyrically weak), Third Day returns to what makes them great with "Wherever You Are." Their first release was "Cry Out to Jesus," which they made available for free to all fans on their website. While the song was not written with Hurricane Katrina in mind, it was released as a tribute and an outreach to all who had suffered its devastation. Lyrically this song showed me that Third Day was back doing what they did best - boldly proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ!
Upon the album's release, I listened to it nonstop for weeks! While not as aggressive an album as "Wire", the album does have many strong songs, like "I Can Feel It", "Carry My Cross", and "How do You Know". "Communion" is destined to become a favourite to all who have ever partaken in the Lord's Supper. "Eagles", "Keep on Shinin'" and "Rise Up" (among others) are encouraging, inspiring songs telling us to continue following Jesus no matter what comes our way! Overall there are few low points on this CD - none worth mentioning because the good definitely outweighs the mediocre on this release! I highly recommend it to fans of Third Day, as well as anyone who appreciates good southern rock music and strong Christ-centered lyrics.
