Book Description

Imagine a place where becoming a Christian is a punishable crime—and your own family exacts the punishment. Where those who spread the gospel among locals are deported if discovered. Where converts to Christianity face persecution, isolation, or even death as the price for their faith. “Reema Goode” and her family are Christians working in a closed Middle Eastern country where all of these things are true. Yet they are also firsthand witnesses of a whole new trend that is taking shape in missions to Muslims. Despite all obstacles, God is opening miraculous doors in the Islamic world, where an unprecedented number of Muslims are becoming followers of Jesus. In this powerful collection of personal stories, Reema takes us deep inside her Arab neighborhood to show how God is opening doors in just one of many Islamic communities. As she walks us through everyday life in a Muslim town, she reveals the diverse, creative, unexpected, and thrilling ways God is reaching her neighbors with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it.”—Revelation 3:8

5.0 out of 5 stars I finished reading a book tonight... March 23, 2011
By Dunadan
Format:Paperback
This Christmas I received a total of 11 books. There were three big gift books, and an assortment of paperbacks that looked just right for intermittent light reading. It looked like I was happily set for a while!

The first book that I read was The Sword: A Novel (Chiveis Trilogy). It is written by Dr. Bryan Litfin, a Moody professor. It is in the genre of Tolkien and Narnia --filled with wisdom, dispensed as the story is told: a wonderful, unexpected surprise. The second to be read was The Twelfth Imam by Joel Rosenburg. When my daughter and I first talked about the author, she said, "He's the guy that writes books, and they come true." Rosenburg blends current events and prophecy with a good dose of the Gospel. Excellent reading.

I was thoroughly enjoying these books and looking forward to the third in my pile, the newest Clancy novel...but my eyes kept being drawn to one of the paperbacks. I would pick it up and look at it, then put it back in the stack. Each time I'd look at it a little longer. Then I read the forward, then the author's short bio, and then the preface. When I saw on the back cover: "See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it." Rev 3:8, I moved it to the top of the reading pile.

Tonight I'm on a business trip, and went to Jack Stack's for BBQ. I took both Which None Can Shut and Clancy. Clancy never came off the table.

Which None Can Shut is a recounting of amazing things that God is doing in the Muslim world. The author is not a household name, probably even in her(?) own house.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stories of God at Work in the Muslim Nation January 3, 2011
Format:Paperback
As a citizen of the United States of America, I am spoiled. I can walk or drive to my church without being arrested. I can meet in people's homes and talk about the Bible without fear of someone coming in and killing everyone in that room. I can talk about my relationship with God and my faith without the worry of being shunned by my family.

But, at the same time, as a citizen of the United States, I do not get to see the amazing mountains that are moved that bring someone to their own decision to follow God. I do not see blatant miracles and answers to prayer (not that it doesn't happen, it just doesn't happen as clearly as it seems to in other places).

In her book, Which None Can Shut, Reema Goode shares story after story of God's hand at work in the Arabian Desert which is a strictly Muslim nation. Goode's stories include stories of healing, stories of answered prayers (God even answers her young son's prayer for rain in the summer that she is unsure will be answered) and stories of open doors and opportunities of sharing who Christ is with important people in the community.

Each chapter of Which None Can Shut reveals Goode's love for the people of the Muslim nation and the reader is given just a peek into the awesomeness of God's power moving through the Arabia and the surrounding areas. An added bonus is the addition of a few resources for people who would like to learn more about what is happening in this part of the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book! March 1, 2011
By Mom2
Format:Paperback
I recently had the opportunity to do a book review for the book:Which None Can Shut: Remarkable True Stories of God's Miraculous Work in the Muslim World by "Reema Goode."

I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone. All I can say is, that it is an incredible story of the power of God working in the Muslim world. This book provides a wonderful testimony of God moving through relational evangelism to share His love with others. Reema tells her story in an easy to read way. There is much to glean in this story about how to walk with God and share His love with others in any country or culture. It is an incredibly encouraging and inspiring book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much too short September 27, 2011
Format:Paperback
I really loved this book in a way I've loved few others. Many times I was on the verge of tears while reading it. Not that it was a sad book--on the contrary, I was nearly weeping for joy over the amazing things God is doing in the Muslim world, opening doors in very unexpected ways. I could read stories like these non-stop for the rest of my life and never get bored with them. I have this feeling that our first trillion years in eternity will keep us occupied just sitting around, telling stories like these to one another, and we'll love every minute of it!

The book is short, it's an easy read (it reads like the author is in the room with you just telling you her story), and told simply so that even a child could understand it.

Speaking of children, Reema, I don't know if you ever read these reviews when you make it back to the States, but I LOVE your son!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book! October 14, 2011
Format:Paperback
Review by Janette P - Which None Can Shut: Remarkable True Stories of God's Miraculous Work in the Muslim World is written by "Reema Goode". I believe Reema is a pen name to protect her identity). Reema and her husband get involved in mission work and move with their 2 children to an Arab country (not named for their protection) where they encounter hostility and suspicion when they first arrive. But as time goes by, Reema finds herself in situations where she is able to witness to Muslims, even in homes of influential community leaders. Some of the people she meets challenge her faith but she is able to lead some to become believers. This is a firsthand account of what life is like in the Islamic world and is a fascinating read. The book certainly lives up to its title and Reema provides several true stories of God's miraculous work. I would highly recommend this book to everyone. Disclosure: I received this book from the Tyndale Blog Network in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
