5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful and charming tale. February 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A delightful tale that will be enjoyed by small children. Slow Moe is a marvelous character who is different from other seagulls in that he doesn't have their speed. He is shunned by the others and has to fend for himself. He is aided by a snail named Poco. Together, the two of them crash land in a forest and help a group of small children get away from a pack of angry, hungry coyotes.

Sounds scary, but it really isn't. I don't think small children will be frightened. The wonderful illustrations will help tell the story in a way that will have children rooting for Moe, his friends, and especially the small puppy.

The Kindle version does not do justice to the illustrations. I used the Kindle app on my Ipad to read the story and appreciate the pictures.

I give this story 5 stars. I think it will make a terrific story to read to children.

Which Way Is My Home is the story of a lonely sea gull named Slow-Moe who loses his home when the iceberg melts and washes away? Trying to keep up with the other sea gulls he is to slow and they run if off the dock. Dejected and feeling all alone he searched and searched for a place to call his own. With no friends around him and the night was getting very lonely. That is until he flies smack dab into a tree in the forest. That's when he hears children's voices. They were lost along with the puppy and now were in a terrible plight as coyotes were gathering around them. Can Slow-Moe help the children and get them back home safely? What if the coyotes think he is a tasty meal or their puppy?

This is a book that I feel every child will enjoy reading or having it read to them. The illustrations on each page are wonderfully presented and with a little emphasis while reading the parent can make the illustrations come alive. As I read the story one thought came to mind and that was John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends." as Slow Moe rescues the children. Recommended for any child's bookshelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars So Which Way IS His Home? March 4, 2013
By Grampy
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
"Which Way is My Home?" by John G. Pedicini is a fun little story about a seagull whose home on an iceberg broke away and started melting as it drifted south. In his search for a new home the little seagull encountered polar bears, the dark of night, flocks of intolerant gulls, wind and sea storms, and plain old fatigue.

When at last he is blown right into the side of an oak tree, he slides to the ground to rest awhile. While resting, he hears the sound of children crying. Nearby several small children with a puppy were lost in the woods, frightened by the storm and the sounds of hungry creatures in the dark.

Soon a large group of coyotes circled the children, creeping ever closer. The children knew their end was not far away. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning hit the old oak tree, splitting it right down the middle! Now it was the coyotes' turn to be afraid, as they all ran away from the falling tree. What would happen to the children? What about the little gull - would he find a new home? Or were they all destined to be coyote food?

In a moment of confusion, the puppy became separated from the group, only to find himself back in peril amongst the coyotes. But the little gull called to the coyotes to come and eat him instead of the little pup, so they started over toward the gull. But just then...

This is, as I said, a fun little story. It has very nicely drawn illustrations, it is written in verse, and it has just enough suspense to keep young children enthralled... no matter how many times you may have to read it to them! If I have any criticism at all, it is that the coyote pack is drawn just a little bit TOO well, and might frighten some children. A little reassurance from a parent should resolve that potential problem adequately.

I've encountered a lot of children's books lately that were very skimpy on the illustrations, opting instead for page after page of text. That may be fine for older children, but for the very young, good illustrations are vital. "Which Way is My Home?" fills the bill very nicely. I definitely recommend this book for anybody who reads to small children. As long as you control the coyotes, this would make a nice bedtime story.
