I got this train set for my Thomas obsessed 3 year old & his little sister to play with. I can't really afford the Thomas sets but I wanted him to be able to enjoy a great wooden set. It is made of durable wood which handles wear well. The little station house that comes with it is adorable, great painted detail & working crossing gates. The only problem I had was with the turntable which stuck at first, but I just removed the pin and hammered it straight (it was bent causing the top piece to grind into & stick to the lower piece) which solved the problem. It is fully compatible with the wooden Thomas sets. I do suggest getting the track clips though with ALL wooden train sets because little hands tend to knock over the risers & hills. Overall, this set is a great value for the low price & there are also matching sets that hook up to it as well.

Purchased this train set for our child's preschool classroom for Christmas. The teachers said there are enough items to play with that several kids can play at one time & the wooden tracks work well with the other existing set they had. The kids seem to love it. Very pleased.

Got this for my 2 year old for Xmas in the hopes that it would work with his Thomas trains because I didnt want to buy a Thomas train set (too expensive)and it does. All his little trains chug on these rails just fine so its quite a bargain. The set up is easy and it comes with a play mat as well. Great value and so far he has had loads of fun with it. The train station is adorable too. We were also able to connect other Thomas pieces to it as well so its very compatible (with the wooden Thomas stuff).
