5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Most Important Books Of Our Times, April 19, 2005
This review is from: Which Way Western Man? (Paperback)
Whether you agree with everything Simpson says or not, "Which Way Western Man" is undoubtedly a work of the greatest social and philosophical magnitude. The culmination of a life's work. That Simpson is sincere in his beliefs is not an issue. Here is a man who tested Christianity to the limits, by taking the words of its founder as true. Giving up everything in order to give himself to the poor, as the first few chapters of the book tell us, Simpson's honesty cannot be assailed. In many cases neither can his intellectual logic. He makes a compelling case for his beliefs regarding the threat to Western culture and values, and the way to avoid them. Sometimes, however, he can seem a little naïve, and I found this particularly so in his discussion of women. His naivete, however, is charming and purely a product of his intellectual honesty and lack of "worldly" wisdom. His critique of modern Christianity is heart felt, and for this reason his book should be on the reading list of every person calling him or her self a Christian. While pessimistic about the future of Christianity, Simpson remains generally optimistic about religion, calling for a new religion based on old values. Some could perhaps see this as a call to the re-emerging Paganism and Heathenism of today to make themselves true to their old values. This is a book for Heathens too ! His prescription for the salvation of Western culture and values are controversial, but they bring forth arguments that must be openly discussed, not hidden away and repressed by the politically correct. Repression only produces neurosis. Openness is required, and whether you agree with Simpson or not, "Which Way Western Man" is a book which MUST be read by every thinking person. As Western civilisation continues to develop, this book is probably one of the most important books of the time. Failure to examine the issues which Simpson raises will result in social disintegration, if not civil wars, throughout the Western world. Read this book and make up your mind which way you want western man to go.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Breath of fresh air, December 31, 2004
This review is from: Which Way Western Man? (Paperback)
Wow.... Of all the books and theories I've read about politics and society, none compare to "Which Way Western Man?". It's difficult finding truth in our information age with so many books and "analysts" all running in different directions. I suppose the best anyone can do is use their judgement and experience and decide what "truth" is for themselves. As for myself, I was completely blown away by William Simpson's views. I couldn't help but agree with him. His views on Jesus, women, race, and "the machine" couldn't be said better. The very next day after reading about "the machine", I went to work and everything he said just jumped right out at me. In fact the more I go about my daily life, the more I laugh to myself and think about how right he was.

But I warn you, ignorance is bliss and this book isn't for everyone. If you're a reality denier, don't even bother. It shakes the very foundations of everything you believe and everything we are taught is "right" like equality for example. Both as individuals and races, it is a biological fact of life that we are all UNEQUAL. We are not equal in intelligence, in character, or potential. You could get the data that supports this by reading something like "The Bell Curve" but you don't have to go any further then your workplace to see it. Sometimes the truth hurts. If you are someone who really does care about the state of the world, this book will make you very angry, or very depressed, or a little of both because it shows us how really sick we have become. And I have never questioned myself as much as I did when I finished. Someone who is more or less weak will not be happy thinking about how far they have it in them to go.

Thank you for creating such an amazing book Mr. Simpson.

4.0 out of 5 stars From the Pen of Satan Himself..., August 18, 2004

This review is from: Which Way Western Man? (Paperback)
William Gayley Simpson's _Which Way Western Man_ is a massive (1000+-page) tome recently republished in 2003 by the National Alliance. It is advertised as the most comprehensive and well-researched volume detailing "racialist philosophy." The author is an ex-Franciscan monk who repudiated many of his previous Christian moorings and embraced the philosophical speculations of Friedrich Nietzsche. Simpson collected, researched and wrote much of his material for this book during the 1930s and 40s and revised a substantial portion of his work in the 1970s. Simpson died in 1991 and this edition is the result of the efforts of the National Alliance's founder, William Pierce, to republish Simpson's work. As the back cover warns, "You may find in this book ideas or ideals that at first hearing strike you as abhorrent." Simpson does not fail to deliver on this statement. To many if not most readers this book is simply the thoughts of Satan himself in print. Although I do not agree with a good amount of the contents in this book, I believe it deserves a wider readership because of the counter-revolutionary stance of its arguments. Simpson analyzes many modern day issues and how they relate to the history and fate of Western civilization and to the white race that founded it. He begins by glancing at the teachings of Jesus and Christianity and concludes that although Jesus was a great mystic and philosopher, he has little to offer for the survival of the West. Simpson contrasts Jesus with Nietzsche and the figures of Aryan mythology and folklore, recommending the latter as offering ideals more natural to those of an aristocratic Western society. Simpson examines mysticism in general noting that it consists of a transformation of consciousness where one does not differentiate his own existence from that of the rest of the universe. The concept of God as a transcendent Deity is thus denied. According to Simpson, the only God knowable to humanity is an immanent inner voice speaking to gifted individuals who are in one way or another in tune with nature and the universe. Simpson contains two chapters dealing with relations between the sexes and condemns absolutely everything to do with the women's emancipation/feminist movement of the past 100 years. He advocates a return to earlier customs in which females were married at young ages (when they are by nature more fertile) to older, more experienced males. Since his objective is to expand and improve the breeding stock of the race, Simpson makes a case for arranged marriages and the reinstitution of polygamy and of course the traditional male patriarchal family structure. Simpson favors an aristocratic government that bases its authority on breeding, land, personal accomplishment and family tradition rather than on strictly financial status. His ultimate goal is a monarchy that would have an organic connection with the people rather than our current oligarchic regime of money-tycoons (often Jews and therefore racial aliens) that seek to exploit the people and the natural resources of the land. The second half of the book focuses on the necessity for a "purified" race and the gradual weeding out of inferiors by sterilization and in some extreme cases, euthanasia. Even incestuous marriages between very closely related relatives should be condoned because they are the quickest way to reproduce desired characteristics as long as the undesirable recessive traits are removed. Simpson discusses the radical differences between blacks and whites and advocates re-colonizing blacks to Africa. An African re-colonization plan is not novel to Simpson, however, because such prominent American statesmen played with the idea as Jefferson and Lincoln in addition to the popular Black Nationalist Marcus Garvey. Lastly, Simpson touches upon and elaborates on what is ultimately the most critical problem facing the white race: international Jewry and their control of finance. The Jews have been in a conspiracy to take over the whole world and make Jerusalem in Palestine the center of their world empire since ancient times. Simpson's solution to the "Jewish problem" is the denial of citizenship status to Jews everywhere and humanely settling them on a reserved area of the earth like Madagascar, which was in fact Hitler's original plan. There is much positive and negative content in Simpson's book. In one instance he claims that Europe has been on the wrong track since the end of the Middle Ages yet it should look toward a new Nietzschean philosophical underpinning that would guarantee racial survival. This is inherently contradictory because Christianity--and not only Christianity but also Catholic Christianity--dominated the worldview of aristocratic, monarchial Europe. There is also a discrepancy between Simpson's ideal vision of a decentralized, rather libertarian agricultural society and doctors and scientists examining people in order to determine their genetic desirability. The book is dated in some points. It does not discuss the many important issues related to this theme (baby boomers, immigrants from Latin America and Asia, the gay rights movement, for example) that have arisen in the meantime from the 1970s to the 21st century. I recommend this book for anyone interested in the role of Jews in the world today in addition to finding a more balanced, traditional outlook that acknowledges sexual polarity and the need to avoid miscegenation if a culture and national community want to survive intact. Religious and ethical questions aside, Simpson's _Which Way Western Man_ is ultimately a well articulated and reflective attack on the most pretentious doctrine ever elaborated: human equality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Democracy and Equality Are Killing Us, February 18, 2009
This review is from: Which Way Western Man? (Paperback)
Simpson is an interesting case of one of those who does an "about face" in life about what he believes. In his first 40 years he was a fanatical Christian who strove to sacrifice his life to Christ's teaching in the most literal sense. He lived among the poor and labored for free to help them while living in a cabin next to a dump. But he eventually reached a dead end trying to follow Christ's teachings. In his confusion, he went to the library and began reading Nietzsche and about social problems regarding race, gender, and civilization. He gradually gave up his belief in equality which our political and religious systems are based on.

Specifically, he advocated things that might shock the average person.

Simpson believed that society should be aristocratic and that we should have a king and nobility. He thought that society should support its men of highest intellect and character as the most valuable ones in society. These are the ones who move society to ever higher levels. We should get rid of democracy which celebrates the mass man and money as the highest of values. A man's sole worth in a democracy is determined by how much money he makes.

Men and women are so different that they should not be compared in terms of equality. Men have their roles as breadwinners and protectors and women have their roles as mothers. Motherhood should be revered once again as the highest calling. A woman's role should be primarily motherhood.

Simpson believed in eugenics. Couples of the highest intellect and character should have 10 to 15 kids. Couples on the lower end of character and intelligence should be sterilized. Violent criminals and babies with severe defects should not be allowed to live. Females should marry in their teens and have a child by 20. He presents evidence that having child early makes childbirth easier later in life. The quality of society is based on the purity of its stock and by using eugenics and marrying kind for kind. He shows some evidence that if family lines are of good stock, incest is a good way to purify the stock as long as defectives are aborted. Perhaps this is why ancient Egyptians had a lot of incestuous marriages. He suggests that people should pick mates that look physically very close to themselves with the similar hair, eyes, and height and they should be culturally the same. Homogeneity strengthens genetic stock; hybridization weakens it. He shows some evidence that hybrids between widely varying races have more health problems. Hybrids are often less symmetrical in their features than pure breeds, which adversely affects beauty. The Nordic genetic stocks of Northwest Europe are like precious jewels that need to be protected by a homogenous society and improved by eugenics. Those of alien stock should be sent back to their racial homelands. Social interactions imply sexual interactions, so those of differing stocks should not be integrated.

Simpson gave up the pacifism of his early years and became a reluctant warrior, although like a philosopher and not a soldier, he would think too much before shooting. He did not like modern wars, but he realized that there is competition between the races for resources and therefore war is inevitable. Modern wars turn into mass slaughtering of even civilians, which he disapproves of. He thought that it is the sickly sensitivity of our age that makes people cry over necessary wars that are for conquest or defense. Before civilization begins, land must be conquered and secured for the race. The only reason candy people are able to sip lattes in California coffeehouses in peace are because of warriors who conquered the land to make it safe in the first place. War is a part of life and we must accept all parts of life, whether they are "good" or "bad", pleasant or unpleasant. Property must be possessed and maintained by violence or threats of violence.

Simpson was a Luddite who did not like the industrial revolution because it destroys the meaning of work by reducing production down to simple tasks that are mind numbing and degrading to an intelligent human being. He wanted handcrafts to come back with a household economy of making your own clothes, for instance. He remembered talking to an old shoemaker and was impressed with his intelligence and character compared to the worker of today.

What should we do with the Jews? Simpson says cancel their citizenships and send them to Madagascar. The Jews control media through the power of international finance and reserve banks, which has an adverse affect on the societies they live in, especially Nordic societies. They use the money earned off interest to buy up the media, politicians, and to fund revolutions like the Jewish Bolshevik revolution in Russia. They secretly hate the rest of humanity and consider it subhuman. Their religion teaches them that they are to be lords over the other races. The media fills people's heads with lies such as the holocaust lie. They want racial supremacism and solidarity for themselves but forbid it for their competitors, White Gentiles.

Simpson stated that you do not need a gold standard to back up money. Money is best backed up by the natural and human resources of the country which will create wealth. Money should be issued debt-free by the government, not loaned at interest from private banks, such as the Federal Reserve. Loans with interest enrich bankers and impoverish the people with debt. Kings are the only ones who can stop the exploitation of the money power. Hitler tried to bypass the money power of Jewish international financers with their loans and debt by bartering surpluses with other nations. This threatened their business, so Germany had to be destroyed.

Simpson has brilliantly exploded the myth of egalitarianism put forth by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Franz Boas inter alios. In Also Sprach Zarathustra Friedrich Nietzsche wrote: "... denn so redet m i r die Gerechtigkeit: die Menschen sind nicht gleich. Und sie sollen es auch nicht werden." If you are concerned as to why the West is in decline, then this is a "must-read" book.

This review is from: Which Way Western Man? (Paperback)
Upon purchasing Simpson's masterfully written racial, quasi-spiritual, philosophical, political, arduously footnoted "Which Way Western Man?", I'd only vague ideas for what sort of literary adventure I was about to embark. I'm still young and have yet to read many other - I'm sure great - works in the pro-Aryan genre, but WWWM is thus far the best.

My only gripe is I wish Simpson would have elaborated on what he saw in the future for Western man, even if only a hypothetical vision.

There is no doubt his perception was, in terms of technological perspective, limited to the generation from which he was born; one that could never really comprehensive the incredible impact television and even more so - the internet, would have on the Western world.

This book is a huge tome with no illustrations or inserts. I was intersted in reading this book becuase it is purported to have inspired Robert Jay Mathews and David Lane as well as other members of the most "radical" elements of the far right. I expected it to be fast paced and compelling, since these fellows all tended to be "men of action". It is actually pretty dull in parts and the author seems to hold himself at a distance and not really put alot of heart into his writing. He is very philosophical and quasi spiritual which I suppose is understandable considering his backround, but it was not very compelling reading for me.
I don't really disagree with most of his points but the book did'nt have much punch, also he talks alot about subjects like beauty and morality in a way that felt very etherial and not consistent with the "will to power" ideal and the urgency he claims is necessary to save Western Man. Lastly, I may be overly prude, but I though some of his ideas re:human physical/marital unions got onto some pretty slippery slopes and he did not do a good job of validating them. Obviously Feminism is odious, but his ideas seemed to drift toward the wackier side of Mormonism.
Lastly, I believe the issues raised in this book are to important to be dealt with so stoicly in over 1000 pgs. I would much more highly recommend David Dukes' "My Awakening". Dukes' book is riveting and filled with personality and passion. It is written in a very accessable way, well illustrated and without a trace of nuttiness. It is the most complete and compelling book of its kind. The latest edition is now available.

Forget the fact that it is dull and philosophically bankrupt, this weighty tome doesn't even get its conspiracy theories correct.
Still, this is not a book to be lightly tossed aside. You should fling this buffalo chip as far away as physically possible.
