Pass on this one...,

Zzzz...oh, I'm sorry, I fell asleep reading this book. I thought Blaze titles were supposed to be sexy, am I mistaken? This book had all the sexual heat of grandma in her long underwear. The hero wakes up in bed with the heroine and mistakes her for a hot woman he'd chatted up at a party. He tries to wake her and when she doesn't...he goes down on her and jerks off in his hand.
Uh, rape anyone? And that wasn't even what really bugged me about the book the most. It was dull. Way too much introspection and not nearly enough interaction between the characters. Who were these people and why would they hook up? Who knew if they had anything in common because the reader was never clued in. Then, if that wasn't bad enough, the author wasted a goodly chunk of her limited word count on a half-assed sub-plot with the sister and her best friend. I don't mind subplots or fantasy sexual situations but nothing kills a story for me faster than poor characterization. Instead of spending pages dealing with the immatural sexually promiscuous younger sister, the author would've been better served to concentrate on her hero and heroine instead. ~ Cerise, [...]

Brilliant!,
This review is from: While She Was Sleeping... (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
First book I've read of Isobel Sharpe, and I think she'll be a favorite of mine. The characters leapt off the page, the tension was sizzling, it even made me laugh and touched my heart. while it WAS rather tame for a Blaze, I still loved it. I fell in love with the characters and look forward to Melanie's story next month!

Hot and funny. Isn't that what we all want?,

I love Sharpe's writing, because it's sexy, smart, fun and best of all I always laugh out loud at least 3 times in each book. That she is able to make a scenario like this one in While She Was Sleeping actually work is pretty remarkable, when you think about it. And her books are perfect escapism for me. So, I disagree with the first reviewer. Lighten up! I like to read both tasteful and tawdry, and Isabel always has a level of class that keeps things real. P.S., my favs of hers are Thrill Me, Indulge Me, and her novels.

2.5 out of 5 stars. The book description that I read sounded really intriguing ... and I'll admit I really did enjoy the book right up until a little after halfway through, mostly because once things started working out for Alana that's when she started to bulk and wouldn't move forward. *Blah* Which of course ruined it for me. Plus it didn't help that her sister was very flighty and kind of annoying .... this might be a better for someone who isn't expecting much to begin with.Review By: From Me to You ... This book was an okay book, nothing special about it. Its the type of book a person reads when they have nothing to do with their time. The guy was not really the boyfriend and never hooked up with the younger sister, ever! So, who ever wrote what the book was about had it wrong. Its a blaze book, but this one just does not fit in with the series. It takes time for the heroine to understand that the guy was never going out with her younger sister, until almost the end. This is just a warning.

While She Was Sleeping,
This review is from: While She Was Sleeping... (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
Alana is the sensible older sister, Melanie is the free spirited screw-up who falls in love with anyone that she meets, whether they deserve it or not. Now Alana is again worried about her sister as she has a man moving into the house that she and Melanie jointly own. No matter what Melanie says Alana can't believe that this guy is different than all the other "bad-boys" that Melanie has dated and no way will she let one of those cretins live in her house.
Alana is supposed to be on her way to Florida to start a new job and look after her grandparents (even if they don't want it) but before she leaves she is heading back to Milwaukee to see the latest loser for herself. But, after waking up in bed, on the heels of the most amazing erotic dream, to find super sexy Sawyer Kern she is a bit confused to say the least. Yum is what I think of when thinking about Melanie in While She Was Sleeping. I know waking up when single never sounded this good to me. Isabel Sharpe had a lot of fun with the `assumptions' made by all the characters in While She Was Sleeping and that made the story even more enjoyable to listen to. I am new to Ms. Sharpe's writing but I know While She Was Sleeping won't be the only story of her that I read. Tanya Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed |
