Timothy S. Lanaik, ThD made his first trip to the Middle East in 1977. He serves as the professor of Old Testament at Gordon-Cornwell Theological Seminary. Dr. Laniak has authored several books, including Shepherds After My Own Heart: Pastoral Traditions and Leadership in the Bible, Shame and Honor in the Book of Esther, New International Biblical Commentary on the book of Esther, and Handbook for Hebrews Exegesis.

Best ever devotional for pastors,

I received this book as a gift, and since then bought it as a gift for another colleague in ministry. It is one of the most soothing, pastoral, and revealing treatments of Biblical scriptures that make reference to sheep and shepherds that I have ever read. There are lots of photos of life with contemporary shepherds in the Holy Land and lots of stories, too. Even the paper stock used in publication is soothing (I'm a tactile person).
