More About the Author

Meta Smith, an author, and DJ, was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised on the south side of Chicago. Born with a love of the arts, she studied drama, ballet and jazz dance and dreamed of one day becoming an actress and music producer. After completing high school, she attended Clark Atlanta University where she majored in Mass Communications, later transferring to Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in English.

While at Spelman, she continued to study drama and dance and became entrenched in the burgeoning Atlanta music scene. She began as an extra and hip-hop dancer in videos for TLC and other LaFace Records artists and local independent acts. From there she worked a few jobs behind the scenes in the music industry as a publicist, recording studio manager, and recording engineer's apprentice.

Her adventurous spirit later took her to Miami on a vacation where she fell in love with the South Beach club scene. She moved to Miami, working a myriad of jobs including waiting tables, Promotions Co-Ordinator for the local UPN affiliate, teaching middle school English in Liberty City, and promoting the South Beach nightlife.

While auditioning for an independent film, she made severable valuable connections that resulted in more appearances in music videos. Meta worked with artists such as Jadakiss, Styles P., Tupac, JaRule, and Timbaland, and was also Jet Magazine's Beauty of the Week, April 8, 2002.

After taking time off to focus on raising her son she moved back to her native Chicago and began to work in philanthropy, using her gift for writing and social skills to raise millions of dollars for worthy causes. She has served as the Director of Development and Marketing for Rimland Services (Evanston, IL), the Director of Development for The Benedictine Sisters of Chicago, and Director of Leadership Giving for United Way of Metro Chicago.

Meta has also earned the reputation as Chicago's hottest female DJ, spinning for high-profile, celebrity studded events for Nike and Lebron James, and opening for artists such as Common, and the GS Boys.

Ebony Knight was raised by her mother to always look for a man with deep pockets to give her the lavish lifestyle that she deserves. Fast-forward years later and Ebony is now Supreme Mistress Ebony, a very successful dominatrix. She hits the jackpot when she takes on multi-millionaire Erik Johansen as one of her clients. Money is no object because Erik has twisted, kinky fetishes and fantasies that only Ebony can fulfill. Ebony is in total control as she is submerged into this lucrative and mysterious lifestyle. But Ebony's life is put on pause when she meets a sexy photographer named Jeff Cardoza. Ebony feels herself falling in love with Jeff which is not her plan at all. Ebony may have to rethink her future when Erik becomes dangerously obsessed with her and won't let her go. Suddenly Ebony is forced into a deadly situation that may cost her everything she's ever worked for.

Whip Appeal is a deliciously racy tale by Méta Smith. Smith dives you in head first into the fascinating life of a dominatrix. What makes this story stand out is the way it is told. The story jumps from the present to the past but it is done in a way that does not confuse the reader. You will be glued to the pages as you try to figure out what exactly happened to Ebony on the night when things went way too far. This story is full of heart-stopping twists, drama, erotic sex, and murder. Whip Appeal is an engrossing read that will have you eagerly waiting for a sequel.

I usually do well when choosing a good book to read. Not this time, this book is horrible! I downloaded a sample to my Kindle, the sample is not always enough to determine if the book is good. But, I purchased it because I thought she was a good author. Well, don't waste your time or money! This book is not worth the ink it's printed with, or paper it's printed on. Fortunately, Amazon was gracious enough to give me a refund! I'm so pissed about this book it's hard to even write a review, I want to start cussing! Please don't waste your money on this one! UGH!!!!!

Whip Appeal could be descibed so many ways: love, sex, mystery, getting money and getting more money. It also comes to show you that who you think are your friends are NOT! And people are not who you think they are or are they? This book is full of twists and turns and you will be off the edge of your seat, because Miss Ebony is a bad bi%#h!

Meta Smith rocks, you could only love her or hate her! And I chose to love her and I'll pay good money to read her her books!
