True insight into the Alzheimer's caregiver experience,
By Tinkertown (Sandia Park, NM United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Whipped Cream on Rain: A Poetic Journal of a Caregiver (Paperback)
Don't let poetry scare you away from this book. Consider each poem a short story and you will be rewarded with insight into the daily, weekly and yearly progress of dementia. As a primary caregiver for my husband, I related to this book more profoundly than with other Alzheimer's related books. I found that The 36-hour Day caused me to overreact to situations as they began occurring, but Dr. Gillman's book puts a personal touch to the disease and eases the fear of the unknown. The more we share our stories about this disease, the easier it will be for everyone affected. Each situation is unique but the similarities continue to amaze me.
