12" Whirl-A-Way Flat Surface Cleaner with New HS Rotary Head

I was hoping to use this surface cleaner to clean roof tiles. It's really meant for FLAT surfaces. Perfect for small driveways, sidewalks, street gutters and, in fact, walls.

Water doesn't drain out from under the unit quite rapidly enough when cleaning a perfectly flat surface (like a poured concrete driveway). But the occasional lift to drain, or scissor removal of some skirt bristles, will do the trick.

Hardware is solid, unlike Northstar surface cleaners.

I wanted a surface cleaner for personal use (driveways and walkways) but couldn't justify the purchase of a $300 or much more large product for something I would do once a year. I considered a water broom, but was turned off by all the negative reviews they had online, as well as feedback I received from a local pressure washer supply company who refuses to even carry them. They recommended this little guy instead. Unfortunately they were sold out so I ended up purchasing mine here on Amazon.

I put it to use this past weekend and was totally impressed. It cut the time it would have taken with just a standard wand by hours! It glided easily and drained great as-is. My only complaint was that it didn't reach all the way to the edges, leaving about a 2" strip that needed to be hit with the wand, which is to be expected. I'm sure that's common with all surface cleaners. The product also seems to be very well made. I'm extremely pleased with my purchase and feel it was well worth the $100+ I spent on it.

Note: You'll want to be sure to have (or buy) a 36" or larger lance with the proper fittings for your spray gun. Luckily I already had one, but I couldn't imagine using this thing with what came with my pressure washer.

I bought one because I couldn't justify spending $300.& up for a larger unit W/A handle that I'd use once a Yr. It does work better than a lance but the larger model W/A handle does save your back. Truly a case of you get what you pay for. After only one driveway/sidewalk cleaning one of the nozzles blew out the inner part reducing the cleaning by at least 50%. Skimpy 30-day warranty means I'll be paying to get it fixed.I'm going to McGyver engineer a handle & then it will be the cats pajamas. Pros. Eliminates zebra striping. Faster than a lance. light weight.Saves time & easier on the back. Cons.A compromise on getting done quicker but still a pain in the back. Less control than larger units w/bars. If you plan on going more than 2-Weeks between uses spray W-D40 in the head or it will freeze up.

This surface cleaner is over built and looks like it will last a long time. Did a little research and it appears that there are repair/ replacement parts available if something does break. which I dont think will ever happen.

Timeline of Events:
1. Unpacked unit, read directions, Prepped Pressure Washer for Use.
2. Fired up Pressure Washer, had Difficulty mating my Quick Disconnect to the Whirl-a-Way.
3. Turned off Pressure Washer, because Whirl-a-Way WOULD NOT MATE with Pressure Washer.
4. Tried every attachment I had to pressure washer, all would mate. Something was wrong with "male" connection fitting on Whirl-a-Way.
5. Went to Home Depot, Purchased New Fitting (about $5.00), hooked it up to Whirl-a-Way..Connected right up with Pressure Washer - All's Well.

I purchased this to mainly clean my pool deck, and it did a FANTASTIC job. I was pleased with the overall cleaning action of the unit, as it didn't leave what I like to refer to as, "zig-zag" clean lines when you use a pressure washer/wand alone.
I wish this came with a pole and handle like the higher/more expensive units, because I'm afraid overtime, my pressure washer wand will bend with lots of use with the Whirl-a-Way. It's not very heavy, but...I can see it happening.

I recommend this unit.
