Whirley Pop Real Theater Popcorn with 6-Quart Stovetop Popcorn Popper

The Whirley-Pop makes the best popcorn I've ever had. It tastes much better than popcorn from electric oil poppers, hot air poppers, and even microwave popcorn. I'll even go on record that it's better than movie theater popcorn.

It also offers several advantages: Very low ingredient cost, compared to microwave popcorn. Faster than microwave (total time: 3 minutes, although you need to turn the handle throughout the process.) Few unpopped kernels. Requires little oil (they suggest 1-3 tablespoons per 6-quart batch and 1 tablespoon is all you need! Some people use as little as 1 teaspoon!)

My Whirley-Pop arrived 10 days ago and I have been using it about every other night since then. I just ordered another one as a gift for my parents. It's helping me cut my ice cream consumption way down.

If you buy the gift set, be aware that the included popcorn kits are NOT low-fat! They are outstandingly delicious, however. If you don't want the popcorn kits, they offer the popper as a standalone.

I recently got one of these delightful popcorn poppers and have really enjoyed using it. I'm a bit of a gadget queen, and yet even still I put off getting one for awhile because I didn't see the need for it. I've got a microwave I reasoned, whats the point in buying this thing. I was so wrong, there's a time and place for microwave popcorn, but there are just as many times and places for the old fashioned kind. This popper lets you control how much fat and salt you use and that alone makes it worthwhile. I like fake butter, but sometimes you just want the real flavors of popped corn, butter and salt.

I suggest making your popcorn with a good double pinch of kosher salt, peanut oil and the basic yellow popcorn. You'll remember how it used to taste when you were a kid. If you like butter flavor, melt the butter separately and pour it over, you can't use butter to pop the corn - it burns. But if you're not allergic to peanuts, peanut oil is just about the best thing you can use to pop in. It adds a nutty flavor thats just so good with the popcorn and salt that most of the time I forget the butter entirely.

Let the popcorn fry in the pan, don't rush it by turning up the heat, let it sizzle as long as possible use medium heat or slightly lower and you will get the crunchiest popcorn. I also open the lid right away to let out the steam when it's done.

You might not think that a gizmo like this could make any difference ... at least not enough of a difference to notice. Not so. Most of us went through the hot-air popper stage, and now we're in the middle of the microwave popcorn craze. The Whirley Pop makes such delicious popcorn that I know I'll never pop corn in the microwave or in a hot air popper again. The popcorn comes out both tender and crunchy, and I haven't seen a single unpopped kernel yet. On top of that, it's fun to use. I absolutely love it.

I have owned one of these pop corn poppers for years. It is the best.

My favorite recipes are to add about one (1) tablespoon of sugar to the oil and pop the corn in the sugar and oil. A sweet treat.

You can also do the same with Salt. About 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt to the oil. No need to add salt at the end of popping. All kernals have flavor.

Add melted butter before you dump the popcorn into a bowl, spin it around in the popcorn popper, again, all popcorn gets a bit of butter.

I find it funny that a previous review actually goes so far as to claim that these reviews are false.

First off, I am an ordinary person, a mother and wife. I get nothing in return for this review!

Second - as for those poor reviews that claim this product is cheap and flimsy... well it is simply aluminum, which is just what you need for making stove-top popcorn, unless you have all night for a cast-iron pan to heat up. Also, it is coconut oil in the packets, which is just what theaters use (my husband used to manage a movie theater, which is why we use whirley pop and Wabash Farms products). You can however use olive oil, vegetable oil or other products, and you can use minimal amounts if you are looking for a healthier popcorn.

As far as Whirley Pop goes, in our family, it is by far our favorite "thing", and we are gadget people! We use ours regularly. We use everyday brand kernels, and have bought flavacol movie theater brand popcorn salt online, as well as a large "tub" of coconut oil, and get great results. We began doing this after using all of our packets up within the first week.

The reason I am even on amazon right now looking at this page, is because I am about to order this as a gift for someone.

I promise, as we, and all of our friends can attest once you try Whirley Pop, nothing else can match it (even some movie theaters - where we have been disappointed by their popcorn, as it just doesn't match up to Whirley Pop.)

If you buy this product (and use it correctly - I'm not sure what other customers have done, that's convinced them it's "flimsy" as a couple old review said) - I promise, you will be hooked!

About 2 months ago, we received our Whirley Pop Popcorn Popper. I was prepared to be a bit disappointed, because I could not imagine that a product could actually be as good as the reviews claimed... it seemed to good to be true. But I was wrong! Since our Whirley Pop arrived, we have had popcorn nearly every single night. We have tried the movie theater popcorn (which we love), that came with our popper, we have also tried a variety of recipes including Kettle Corn. We were so surprised at how good the Kettle Corn was (and how easy!). The microwave stuff doesn't even compare! In fact, I would say the only other thing you could compare our homemade Kettle Corn to, is the authentic Kettle Corn which you can buy at fairs and other events!

As a family we have always loved popcorn. At one time we had a pot that worked great for stovetop popcorn, but it was easily destroyed by pieces of popcorn that had burned to the bottom because we couldn't move the pot fast enough. We have tried air poppers, microwave styles and stovetop, but nothing compares to the Whirley Pop! The design makes it very easy to use (and I have Carpal Tunnel, but have no problems with my Whirley Pop), and at the same time makes it extremely difficult to burn or ruin the popcorn. It is easy to clean, and we have never had such great tasting, light and fluffy popcorn.

We are so excited to have found our Whirley Pop, we can't wait until Christmas time... all of our friends and family will be sharing in our excitement!

Really, as hard as it may seem to believe, the Whirley Pop really is an incredible "gadget", and trust me, as a mother of two, and wife to a "gadget man" we've seen many "great" products, but absolutely nothing compares to our Whirley Pop.

I highly recommend that you buy the Whirley Pop package that includes a few Movie Theater Popcorn packets. These easy to use, pre-measured packets produce authentic Movie Theater Popcorn. The oil and seasoning/salt that comes packed with the popcorn is the exact same product that movie theaters use. In fact, you can even contact the manufacturer online to order larger quantities, as we have.

What shocks me the most is why I hadn't heard about Whirley Pop sooner (the company is 25 years old!), as this really is up there with the greatest gifts that I've ever received!

Don't be fooled by look alikes, this is the popcorn popper for you! Even with almost daily use, this amazing machine will last for years. (Run the top through the dishwasher occasionally to thoroughly clean any oil residue.) Each kernel pops to an incredibly light and lucious taste treat with a minimum of oil. With a light drizzle of melted butter and a sprinkling of salt, it's dessert at our house! The movie may be a disappointment, but the popcorn will be fabulous!

I received one of these as a gift & it took me months to try it. I couldn't understand why I should bother, when there is microwave popcorn. Well, once I tried it I was hooked! I don't know what packets the other reviewers are referring to, but I use 2 tbsp of canola oil and 1/3 cup of popcorn kernels. Then I pour the popcorn into a bowl & add salt & parmesan cheese. It's great, it takes no longer than a microvave bag & you can control the fat. This is one of the best gifts I have ever received.

...We couldn't believe how fantastic the popcorn was the first time we tried it. My husband said it was "dangerously good" and always tells people how great the Whirley Pop is. The theater-style popcorn packets it comes with make buttery popcorn that's even better than at the movies--the perfect combination of warm, salty, buttery, and crisp. We've already ordered more packets from the company. Not only is the popcorn delicious, though--it's also fun to make, and nearly impossible to ruin. It truly does pop every single kernel, and it never burns. The Whirley Pop is a great addition to every kitchen!
