Not only is the standard PKZip compatible ZIP format supported, but also gzip(.gz), Java Archive (.jar), LHA files (.lha, .lzh), MS Cabinet (.cab), Unix tape archives (.tar), and UUEncoded files (.uue, .xxe).

AlphaZip also supports plugins, so if a new archive type is invented, you just have to install the plug-in for that archive type.

You Can Make Self-Extracting Program File with Alpha Zip. A major plus for AlphaZip is its ability to create self-extracting files. This means you can turn your archives into program files if you want.

Alpha ZIP also supports Norton Antivirus and McAffee Antivirus Scan, so you can check your archives before distributing them. You can easily convert archives to different file formats, or add files to them. You can compress and email your files in one simple operation.

Alpha Zip is a great archiving program. It's really easy to use, and it does and lot of file types like gzip, cab, and some other formats that aren't handled by WinZip.

It makes self-extracting executable files too, which is a big thing for me. I paid a lot more to get this feature with PKZip.

Really great product for the price... you can't go wrong.

I like this program because I used it to compress a lot of image files and then I saved them on a CD and got them off my hard drive!!

These folders were too big to put on a CD until I compressed them with Alpha Zip.

Alpha ZIP is completely compatible with other ZIP compression software. I've never had a problem with unzipping any other archives.

Alpha ZIP is a really low cost solution to keeping your data backed up. Norton Ghost wouldn't write to my CD drive, so I used Alpha ZIP and it worked great.
