The knob was the perfect fit.
Carol S. Jackson
In fact, even better than the original because of the metal threads securing the knob to the timer where the original knob was all plastic.
Joseph Montalto
Both have the same part number.

This is a perfect replacement for older Sears Kenmore Washer and they've even made some improvements. Part of the plastic that threads into the bolt on the washer control panel has been replaced with some metal components. This is the section that sheared off on my washer and required replacing.

While the knob is brand new and looks great, the threaded insert is a different size than what my machine is. I matched up the part numbers to confirm it is the correct piece, but unfortunaly, it doesn't fit my Whirlpool

Although the knob is supposed to work with my washer, it just does not fit. I have read this from other customers as well but decided to take the chance. Bad idea. Somewhere along the line the stem in the washer changed size and since it is such an old machine, no one appears to have bothered to do the research. The washer uses a 1/4 in wide shaft with 20 threads per inch. THAT is what we should have looked for. We ended up getting a simple wing nut with that spec and it is working fine for us.

The Whirlpool 3362624 Timer Knob is not a direct replacement for part #3353309. The threads are different and to make Part #3362624 work you will have to drill and tap the threads to 1-4"-20.

Was meant for a newer washer.

My older washer had 1/4" thread which meant I had to run a tap thru and it then would thread on and work.

Cheaper than new washer or repairman

This replaced a 15 year-old plastic knob that had a pot-metal insert. Since in every use of the washer, you need to pull, push, and turn it, the plastic eventually broke. This replacement design is all-metal with a rubber covering and will no doubt outlast every other component ... as it should be; there's no good reason to under-engineer such a simple, yet critical part! Note: the OEM supplier wanted literally10 times the price to replace it with (presumably) another plastic knob.

You may need to run a tap through this to get the correct thread.
The number matches the need for a Kenmore appliance but the knob as received needed to have the threads enlarged. I figure if you are purchasing a DIY part, you probably have a 1/4" x 20 pitch tap. That is all it took.
Unfold the center tab holders, and run the tap through, Soft metal so did not even prebore. Lots of lube and cut on through. Works as expected. Reinstall the center trim piece and good to go.

The threads on the Knob did not fit the threads on the stub. This was a replacement part for the original part. Our washing machine was over 15 years old though.
