Poor quality, STAY AWAY,

Replaced our dishwasher of 5+ years with this low cost Whirlpool model. After 1.5 years, the motor seized up, just after the "extended" warranty expired. Since the motor costs $400, we're stuck with buying a new dishwasher.

I am surprised at the low reviews this dishwasher got. I got it because it was a low priced, highly-rated dishwasher recommended in "Consumer Reports". Compared to my previous dishwasher, it is quiet and cleans upper and bottom rack beautifully. As the manufacturer points out, it does require the use of a rinse aid to keep the glassware and silverware from spotting.
The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that the silverware tray is in the door and is not big enough. I knew this from reading reviews and made sure my old silverware rack from my previous dishwasher would fit on the bottom rack when I needed it. For my husband and me this works great, though it does limit the capacity of the bottom rack; but back when I had 3 kids at home, I would have prefered a different model. Aside from the silverware issue, I hope I continue to have a good experience with this model, and would recommend it to others.

Never cleans, bad design,

I bought this dishwasher less than a year an half ago, and it was repaired under warranty one time. Our major complain was that it was not cleaning the cups on the upper rack, then it got worse and even the dishes on the lower rack were not clean. The repair man from a famous store replaced the motor. Although I advised him that there was nothing wrong with the motor. No improvement and the warranty is gone. I decided to look at it myself. This dishwasher has a fine screen just before used water enters the motor. It is located under the sink in the bottom of the dishwasher. The screen has a chopper kind of blade that is supposed to clean the screen so that it won't get clogged but apparently it does not clean it properly and you end up with a clogged screen. This lowers the pressure of the water pumped by the motor to the lower and upper racks and hence the rinsing and cleaning functions at this low pressure are almost dead. I took out the screen and cleaned it. The damn thing ran for 4 weeks very well then the same issue again. As I said, it is a bad design and unfortunately when I went to several appliance stores, most new dishwashers are using the same components. They use the same pump, screen, and chopper. I noticed that GE has different components. We are going to try GE next. The last dishwasher I had lasted for 10 years with no issues. Avoid this model and similar ones.
