5.0 out of 5 stars This a great washer!
We bought this washer and dryer about one month ago; my husband and I both work full time and we have a 15 month old - so I've done A LOT of laundry. They both work great and I'm very happy with the purchase! 2.0 out of 5 stars Cleans incredibly well, but destroys your clothes (cuffs, waistbands, collars)
This machine is very powerful. My clothes came out cleaner than they'd ever been before, but either the spin dry or washing process frayed:

1) Cuffs/waistbands of pants
2) Collars of shirts (t-shirts, dress shirts, polos)

Any area not on edge of clothes (i.e. not a cuff, waistband, or collar) was fine -- and very very clean. I tried...

We bought this washer and dryer about one month ago; my husband and I both work full time and we have a 15 month old - so I've done A LOT of laundry. They both work great and I'm very happy with the purchase! First of all they look fantastic, I know who cares what they look like they stay in the utility room and it's not like we invite company down there but they are just so lovely it actually motivates you to keep the whole room looking good. In addition, the pedestals (which are optional) give you room to store the detergent, fabric softener, bleach and more it's nice to have them put away and out of sight.
The washer has several automatic cycles: Delicate, Normal/Casual, Bulky itmes, Whitest Whites (those are the ones I've used) the whitest whites cycle is amazing, really. I've done most of my wash on Normal and it takes about 40 minutes for a large load to be done. And then, there's the dryer...completely dry in about 30. What a time saver!
Some reviewers complained about vibration in the spin cycle, but during install we made sure everything was level and haven't had a problem. We almost didn't buy the front loader because of the "moldy smell" problem some reviewers complained about...i've not experienced any of that and in an effort to negate any problem I've been running the clean washer cycle once a week - just a cap of bleach.
The steam option is wonderful - my son had been sick with the stomach flu and not to be graphic but we had a lot of vomity clothes; I ran everything through with the sanitize option didn't have a single stain, not even the red gatorade.
I've used the steam on the dryer to take the wrinkles out of a sweater and it worked beautifully in 15 minutes. The dryer has a damp dry signal that is helpful with bulky items...you can just toss them around and they dry a bit quicker.
As an aside, the Tuscan Chestnut color is being discontinued - if you can find a set they are being deeply discounted. In short, I really love both the washer and dryer. Hope this is helpful!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a joy to do the laundry..., May 30, 2008

My son bought me this Washer and Dryer for Mother's Day and I love them. They do everything they claim in their advertisement.

The steam function on the dryer is awesome for freshening up clothes as well as non-washable items like drapes. The "Whitest Whites" cycle really does get the white wash clean with or without the use of any bleach. Also, this Washer uses very little detergent and only "He" Type detergent which is available at most grocery stores. It is amazing how clean the laundry gets with such a small amount of detergent. The dryer has a wrinkle shield function that keeps the laundry from getting wrinkled in case you forget or can't get to it as soon as it's dry. The washer has a sanitizing function that deep cleans and sanitizes the wash and there's a "Drain/Spin" function in case you want to spin the laundry drier (but it does an excellent job even on heavy loads). They handled a king-size comforter load and a load of my son's dirty, heavy work pants and hooded-sweatshirts with no trouble at all.

They can be stacked for space saving or they can sit side-by-side. If you do want to stack them, you'll need to buy a stacking kit but they are readily available and inexpensive and a door reversal kit for the dryer (the washer door is not reversible) is also available for purchase which is suggested when they are being stacked. There is also a Work Surface that can be purchased separately that makes the tops' a convenient place to fold and sort laundry. And there is a pedestal available too, which raises the height of the appliance.

This Washer and Dryer cost more than my previous washers and dryers but in the long run the amount that is being saved in electric, water, and detergent costs far outweighs the initial cost. I just can't say enough about how wonderful they work and the new brown "Tuscan Chestnut" color is a beautiful metallic brown color.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Washer, November 11, 2008
By
I bought both the washer and dryer of this pair. The washer is great. I love the sanitize option. If you have ever left a load in too long and it spoiled, you'll love this feature. You can re-run the load with the sanitize option and the mildew smell is gone! This washer holds a lot and does a great job cleaning.

I was more excited about the dryer, but have changed to love the washer more than the dryer.

This machine uses less detergent, less water and cleans better...doesn't get much better than that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Task Reducer, January 29, 2010

This review is from: Whirlpool Duet Steam : WFW9500TC 27 Front-Load Steam Washer (Tuscan Chestnut)
This is the first review I have ever posted. But, I had to let everyone know how great these appliances are. We have had our set since the summer of last year. We have 3 teenagers, my husband is a fabricator who loves ATV's and Side by Sides and we live in the woods with a gravel driveway. So we have a lot of laundry and a lot of dirt. This washer has cut my detergent use and work load in half, litterally! It gets everything clean. And when the cycle is done the clothes are damp, not wet, so it takes less time to dry. I love the Whitest Whites cycle...it does keep the whites that almost new white. And the Deep Clean cycle is amazing...I have put a few things in there that I thought were not that dirty and to see the how dirty the water comes out is testament as to how well the washer cleans. When it is spinning, you dont even here it. Make sure you level the washer properly...otherwise you will have noise and vibration.

The dryer is awsome also. You can run the washer through a quick wash and throw them into the dryer on quick dry and your done in 30! My girls love the quick refresh cycle on the dryer...You know teenagers they change every couple of hours. So if they have something they want to wear and its not so fresh or a little stretched out they just toss it in and its ready to go in a few minutes. It also has a setting so that if you cant get to the dryer right away, it will tumble it every so often at the end of the cycle so you dont get those nasty wrinkles.

I think its well worth the investment...after all you use it all the time for years. You may as well invest in something that is going to make your life simpler and enjoy it.

Any area not on edge of clothes (i.e. not a cuff, waistband, or collar) was fine -- and very very clean. I tried washing on delicate, hand wash, using low spin, no spin, etc. Had to finally give up and return the unit.

Thinking about trying a Samsung, but maybe this whole front-loading technology isn't mature yet. Likely will go back to a top-loader (though reviewers say those are starting to really slip in quality).

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible. When it breaks, more than 6 weeks wait for parts., July 7, 2011

Washer worked fine for about two years. (It should, for what it costs.) Now, a cheap little water level switch has broken and rendered the whole damn machine non-functional. $90 highway robbery for the replacement switch...AND, it's "factory backordered" -- no one has it -- and won't be available for another 6 weeks!!

Save your money & don't buy this -- might as well keep going to the laundromat, since you're going to wind up back there anyway,

1.0 out of 5 stars Think twice about Whirlpool, March 28, 2011
This review is from: Whirlpool Duet Steam : WFW9500TC 27 Front-Load Steam Washer (Tuscan Chestnut)
My wife and I have had our Whirlpool Duet II for less than three years and have spent an additional $300 for a water intake valve issue. It has been replaced once and 6 months later the same problem came up. Americas Same Day Service out of Springfield, Missouri charged $270 for a part that I found on-line for $36.00 so I will never use Same Day Service based in Springfield, Missouri for repair on anything. I'm going to buy a different brand not associated with Whirlpool.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, February 8, 2011
This review is from: Whirlpool Duet Steam : WFW9500TC 27 Front-Load Steam Washer (Tuscan Chestnut)
This washing machine cost $1349.00. I had it for 11/2 years and the bearings wore out. So far I'm $90 in just to find out that the repair will be a minimum of $400.00 more. I purchased the dryer and pedistals also, so if I change brands I would have to lose all of it. This is a rotten deal from a company that does not offer good warranties. I am truly disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Expensive PIECE OF JUNK!, December 1, 2010
This review is from: Whirlpool Duet Steam : WFW9500TC 27 Front-Load Steam Washer (Tuscan Chestnut)
Do not buy this expensive piece of junk! After owing several Kenmores and/or cheap washers (that lasted), I decided to splurge on a steam washer with all the "bells and whistles" when we renovated our house. I had problems with this after only 4 months of use (major leaking) but at least that was under warranty. As soon as the one year warranty was over, the machine completely died - the circuit board failed. The repair guy said this was far to early for such a thing to happen but the Whirlpool rep I spoke with disagreed and said something like "hey - things break." Because a new circuit board alone is around $400, I will be junking this machine and buying a reliable Kenmore. No more Whirlpool's for me!
