AWESOME!!!!
I have this microwave in black. We're remodeling so have had nothing to cook with for the past 2 weeks except this microwave and a small 11" electric skillet. This microwave is absolutely amazing! I knew it came with a rack a sizzle pan, but was suprised when I got it and found 2 wire stands, one low and one high profile, the sizzle pan, with handle for when it's hot,...

Terribly disappointed, December 7, 2009
This review is from: Whirlpool : GH7208XRQ Microwave
We put in a totally new kitchen and chose this microwave to be installed above our range. Excited, we used every cooking feature and were so excited - at first. We noticed first the paint on the inside of the door was peeling and falling off in pieces on to the stove. Called and talked to Whirlpool; they had me call their licensed repairman in our area. We had to pay I believe it was $120 for him to come out and agree there is a problem but the company would not recognize there was a problem, saying they had never heard of this problem and it must have been something we had done or were doing. Checking the web I found many stories of people with the same problem but the company still insisted they had not heard of it. Now, today, my daughter was using the microwave, simply to reheat something, and it began to smoke and smell extremely strong like electrical burning. I am now afraid of this unit and will try, again, to find more information on this problem. We paid a lot of money for this unit and have now had it for 2 years. (I will find the exact date before I call Whirlpool). I do not expect them to agree to the problem again. I would not ever recommend this unit to anyone!!!

AWESOME!!!!, January 30, 2009
This review is from: Whirlpool : GH7208XRQ Microwave
I have this microwave in black. We're remodeling so have had nothing to cook with for the past 2 weeks except this microwave and a small 11" electric skillet. This microwave is absolutely amazing! I knew it came with a rack a sizzle pan, but was suprised when I got it and found 2 wire stands, one low and one high profile, the sizzle pan, with handle for when it's hot, and a fairly large casserole w/ steamer insert. The touch screen is interactive and easy to use. The "sensor cooking" feature works very well. The control panel takes just the slightest touch and is very accurate. There are MANY preprogrammed options, but you can easily operate it manually in any mode as well.
I have a busy life, full time job w/ 1 hr commute each way and 3 young boys (as of this date 01/30/09 they are 6, 3 and 18 mos.) When they are hungry, they are hungry! We have been eating a lot of frozen pizzas which would normally gross me out to have to eat - who wants soggy crusted microwaved pizza??? (My husband does, but he's weird! LOL!) You put the sizzle pan up on the high stand and use the interactive touch screen to find the frozen pizza menu where you select thick or thin crust and also the diameter of the pizza. Then it tells you which rack to use and to place that w/ the sizzle pan in the microwave to preheat. It preheats for 3 minutes, then beeps and tells you to put in the pizza, then touch Continue. It takes about 8 minutes for a 9" thin crust, so give or take depending on your pizza. I haven't had time to watch it run through an entire cylce, but have noticed that it apparantly runs through different cooking phases ending with one that bubbles/browns the cheese. The pizza comes out looking awesome and tastes pretty darn good, too! The texture isn't perfect, but much better than any microwaved pizza I've ever experienced before.
The lighting (it has a nightlite feature) and fan speed options are excellent and when used as a range hood (over my little electric skillet) it has done an excellent job drawing in steam and grease. The grease filters can go in the dishwasher. The charcoal filters will be replace every so often as necessary.
With nothing else to really cook in/on, I've not had time to risk experimenting so haven't tried the broil, convection bake, or grilling features. If they work as well as what I've experienced thus far I'll be completely satisfied. This appliance has been an absolute JOY to own. It has a "most frequently used" menu that has "learned" what we cook most often and placed them there for easier access - it will change as our needs change.
If you decide to splurge on this microwave, I doubt you'll be sorry! I certainly am not!!!

Can you say "Class Action Lawsuit?", June 27, 2011
This review is from: Whirlpool : GH7208XRQ Microwave
We bought this model in January of 2009. Since that time it has been broken and unusable for approximately 4 months. The first time around it took four visits including a special trip by the regional repair manager to figure out the "wave guide" was faulty. This lead to a free replacement unit. They hauled the old one away to investigate the problem further. Shortly after this we found out our warranty was sold to another group - Bankers Warranty Group. Looking back, I wonder if this was done intentionally - knowing the huge problems this unit would have. The new unit worked for about a year before it had the problem with the unit powering off then on. It took 4 visits over two months for them to fix that issue. The unit worked for 4 months before showing the F7 error message. This means the Magnetron and Inverter must be replaced. This took 3 more visits. After replacing both parts the microwave still didn't work. They said another circuit board was blown but they had one locally that they could replace it with. They left the microwave in pieces to grab the part. After installing the new part they powered it up again to test it. The same part blew. They used a fiber-optic goose-neck tool to look into the wave guide. The same problem as the first unit. There is a little metal post that protrudes into the wave guide. Eventually the microwave radiation arcs off of this post causing the unit to fail. We have another 2 1/2 years under our extended warranty which is great and all except the wave guide is considered part of the cabinet which is not covered under the warranty. So at this point - Bankers Warranty Group will not pay to repair or replace our unit. We have a $900 kitchen timer hanging in our kitchen. I called Whirlpool to explain my frustration. This was met with the typical lack of care or empathy. They said it is outside of the manufacturers warranty so they can do nothing. I have researched lemon laws to see if it applies. Unless the same part malfunctions 4 times it is not covered. I can't afford to pay for a cabinet two more times. I am so mad I am screaming. Avoid this unit at all costs. When it was working it was the best microwave we ever had. But it is not worth $900 if it only lasts two years intermittently riddled with repairs. I wish I could get enough people together to file a class action lawsuit to force Whirlpool to refund our money. Shame on you Whirlpool!!!

Very good when it's not malfunctioning, December 26, 2011
This review is from: Whirlpool : GH7208XRQ Microwave
This microwave has excellent features...steaming function, grilling, auto sensing, etc.... However, our unit malfunctioned and needed to be replaced after 2 years. Whirlpool's warrantee division has been very cooperative in getting us a repacement unit or getting us money to buy another unit on our own.
