I purchased this gas dryer on 3/7/11 (not from Amazon) and now on 8/13/12 the dryer no longer heats. How long is the warranty good for; one year. Where is the Whirlpool quality? We are a family of 5 (two in college so fuller usage during the summer). I did receive a notice before the year was out to purchase an extended warranty but thought "No, it's a Whirlpool". If you already bought this dryer consider an extended warranty if offered otherwise I would not recommend this dryer. I'm calling a service company out to repair rather than buy a new one since I haven't received $450 worth of service from this one yet.
UPDATE: A service repairman came out. The problem was a blown fuse which is located inside the dryer unit. The unit had to be disconnected, the back taken off and all 3 fuse location checked out. Final repair price was $75.

I just don't get the bad reviews this dryer has received. I love this dryer and have had NO problems with it. It dries my jeans just fine - waistband and all. It dries our towels just fine. Guess I must be using the right settings to have this done, right? There's something about READING the INSTRUCTIONS before using a new appliance that can be very helpful. The best part is the cool down and wrinkle free tumble at the end of the automatic cycle. If I can't jump up and get my clothes out right when it stops, it will tumble the load a few times (with no heat) for the next 20 minutes to help prevent big wrinkles.

I also have the matching top loader w/agitator washer that everyone is complaining about. NO problems there with my machine either.

Love them both. Glad to have them. They do the job(s) they were designed to do.
Sure beats the heck outta having to use a washboard in a tub to clean our clothes and hang to dry on a clothesline.

Horrible machine! We purchased this machine in 2011. I agree with another reviewer that this machine has a hard time fully drying our families clothes. On 10/30/14 the machine died. We think it's the motor, and we are very unhappy since the machine is only a couple years old, and we were expecting better from a Whirlpool. I would not recommend this dryer to anyone. In the future we will not be purchasing a whirlpool.

This dryer does not completely dry after a full, nearly hour long, cycle. It "offers" cool down feature, wrinkle guard, and low/medium/heavy temperature cycles. You will never need low/medium since heavy doesn't even fully dry waist bands on pants, pockets inside pants, towels or sweaters. And, there is no need for a cool down since the clothes are not dry. After spending $500, and what is sure to be a higher utility fee since it is run nearly two full cycles each load, this has been a major disappointment - especially after having a great Kenmore that lasted over 15 years with fewer features.
