MY DREAM CAME TRUE ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
on March 24, 2013
With no place but my kitchen counter for a microwave, I've spent the last ten years on the lookout for the smallest one I could find - at last, I've found it.
I don't "cook" anything in my microwave - I use it to warm stuff, melt stuff, defrost stuff and make popcorn - that's about it. Still, I'd miss it the first time I let a cup of coffee get cold or wanted to melt some butter, so I just can't bring myself to be without one.
I don't want/need a microwave oven with a lot of bells and whistles. All I want it to do is the few things I mentioned, and I want it SMALL, really small. Honestly, I think there are plenty of folks who use a microwave oven just like me, and I think Whirlpool is brilliant for acknowledging this and creating a truly compact microwave oven just for this demographic. And needless to say, it would perfect for a college dorm room.
No, it doesn't have a keypad to enter in the cooking time - it has plus and minus touch buttons (+ -) to add or decrease the cooking time - BIG DEAL - how hard is it to touch the + button three times, followed by the start button to give your cold cup of coffee a 15-second warm-up? Also, if the "start" button is pressed, it turns the oven on and automatically sets the cook time for 30 seconds, then each time it's pressed again, it adds another 30 seconds...another quick way to add time.
It's a handsome little thing (see the pictures I've posted), and all the functions are incredibly intuitive - I have yet to look at the instruction manual. With its curved back, it fits perfectly into a corner, freeing up valuable countertop real estate - I love it. It's a little pricey for a little low-function microwave oven - but it's worth it. As an Amazon Prime member, I paid the $4 extra for next-day delivery; I couldn't get it fast enough.
