We bought this oven 5 months ago. On the positive side, it gets hot and bakes; but that's about it. On the negative side, I had read several reviews about the fan being loud. Well, it IS loud, even louder than the noise from our dishwasher. It is quite annoying until it cools itself down after cooking a meal. We then used the self clean feature and it shut itself down after 2 hours (totally dead), didn't blow the breaker; it just burned itself out and the display went black. The door was sealed and couldn't be openned. The melamine on our wall cabinet even got scorched because it got so hot. I put an oven termometer next to the wood cabinet after it had shut itself down and it read over 160 degrees F which I consider unsafe. The floor in front of the oven was so hot it was uncomfortable to stand near it barefoot and I suspect it will damage or yellow the vinyl flooring over time. The response by Whirlpool was to tell me that "it is normal for ovens to get hot". I agree, it is supposed to get hot, but INSIDE! After servicing the first time, the fan was replaced but then rattled even more than before. We tried the self clean funtion after the first repair and it blew itself out again (completely locked, no power...dead). I think this oven has been "not working" more than a third of the time we've owned it over 5 months. The second tech from another service place recently confirmed the installation met the requirements in Whirpool's installation manual, but he now needs to order some more parts to repair it properly. Be warned...make sure to try the self clean function early if you get this oven, or avoid it altogether. I suspect the insulation on these units is not sufficient, so expect lots of heat to escape the unit. Our adventure continues, but so far, this unit is a real disapointment. I will be shopping for a different unit.

The fan is super loud and runs for a very long time after heating up. It takes a long time to preheat. It heats unevenly and inconsistently. The buttons for the timer always change the temperature for the oven. For example I'll set the time for 5 minutes and it changes the oven temp to 500 degrees. You can imagine the problems this creates. Contacting Whirlpool about this doesn't really do anything. Whomever designed the electronic buttons for timer, oven temp, bake, convection bake etc. needs to be assigned a the position of answering phones and reading reviews and operating the oven on a daily basis.

When I found out that this wall oven was made in America by Whirlpool I took a second look. I am happy to see some movement in industry moving back to our wonderful country, the faster the better as far as I am concerned. People want to buy American again and start rebuilding our middle class. I am very happy with this convection wall oven, it is well built, works great and pretty to look at. My older oven lasted only seven years and it was made in china as if I had a choice in buying American back then! Controls are easy to operate, the quality is superb and it even has some heaviness to it, not flimsy. Same cabinet outer size as my old wall oven, but the inner compartment size where the food fits to be cooked in is at least a fourth larger and deeper. Instead of two racks for food it has three racks. The lower heating element is concealed by the inner wall which helps making cleaning a breeze, a new idea which is very nice and helps with faster cooking. The oven feels like quality and looks like quality. This oven is easy to use and is worth every penny I spent on it. You won't go wrong purchasing this oven.
