This Whirlpool air purifier works great. I have had several air cleaners and this works the best. It is super quiet and has three fan speeds. My last Environcare did not work as well. Checking into Consumer Reports, this Whirlpool is rated one of the best. Most air cleaners require pre-filters and HEPA filters. Suggested replacement is 3 months for pre-filters (which saves the life of the HEPA) and once a year for the HEPA. This is normal maintenance and what keeps your air filtered. I would highly recommend this unit.

The purifier is fine and does the job, but as for the maintnence cost, the hepa filters cost around $80 a piece and you need to replace those every year. Also the cabon filters are around $20-25 for a years suppy. Buyer should be aware that if you run your purifier year round like I do that there is an annual upkeep cost of $100 plus whatever energy consumption you use for the year.

There's a lot of construction going on across the street from my apartment, and the apartment has been really dusty. My wife and I have allergies and we were really suffering. We got one of these for our bedroom and it made a huge difference -- my wife was able to sleep through the night without waking up sneezing for the first time since we moved in. We got a second one for our office because it worked so well. There's a noticeable difference in air quality within half an hour of turning it on. It removes allergens from the air and makes our apartment livable again. Definitely recommended.

This is a great air purifier. It works so well that I don't mind at all paying for replacement filters when needed. And the filters last quite a while, in any case. I recommend it highly.

I've had the Whirlpool Whispure 250 and 450 for several years now and it is a wonderful air cleaner. We get a bunch of dust each time we clean the pre filter (about every 2 weeks). They are quiet at the low speed, but a little noiset at high speed. The only caveat I have with these air cleaners, are the expensive Hepa replacement filters. It's good we onlt have to change them every 1-2 years.
I would recommend this product to anyone who has allergies or just hates dust, pollen and pet dander.

We live in a poorly ventilated apartment above a household of smokers. Out of concern for our baby's health, we purchased this Kenmore model to replace an older, similar Whirlpool model that was no longer functioning well after eight years of use (and that, unfortunately, Whirlpool is no longer manufacturing). This does a great job quickly clearing the air, and we are pleased with its performance. The only reason why I'm giving this four stars rather than five is because the Kenmore model that I received isn't the same as what is pictured on Amazon. It contains a styrofoam interior rather than the hard plastic core that the Whirlpool Whispure contains. My old Whispure (with the plastic interior) was virtually silent, even on the highest speed. The Kenmore version is noticeably louder than the Whispure, especially on high. My baby sleeps well with white noise, however, so that hasn't deterred us from using it.
