Of the three in the trilogy, I liked this one the best!, February 21, 2012
A Whirlwind Engagement by Jessica Hart
Harlequin Romance # 3765 - September 2003
City Brides trilogy - Book # 3
Imagine discovering one day that your very best friend in the world, the one who's always been there for you, is actually the man you've been looking for all your life, your one and only. One day Bella suddenly opened her eyes and seen Josh the man he'd matured to be, no longer the little bit geeky lanky college student she sat beside fourteen years ago. And he's getting married to someone else. Josh used to have a huge crush on Bella in college, and over the years he convinced himself that all he needs is for her to always be his best friend. But Bella's been acting strangely, and all he can figure out is that her heart is broken, she'd just been dumped by her boyfriend, and she had confessed to him that the one man she'd ever love would never be hers. When Josh's fiancée dumps him, Bella volunteers to a pretend engagement. He needs a fiancée for a trip with prospective clients, and it's couples only. Now it's Josh's turn to be thrown for a loop, because after their first kiss, he can't stop thinking of Bella in a very un-best friendly way. And all he can remember is how she'll always be in love with another man.
This is a wonderful story of two best friends who suddenly understand the reason why they've never committed to anyone is because they've really been saving themselves for each other. There are some very emotional moments when Bella's heart breaks at the realization that she's too late; Josh is taken. I liked the way we get to see Josh wake up to his feelings. Of the three in the trilogy, I liked this one the best. Maybe because everyone else could easily see that Josh and Bella were meant to be together, and were just waiting for them to come to their senses. Although each book in the trilogy stand alone, I recommend reading them in order, there are lovely tidbits in the first two that make this last one richer.

What do long time friends do when their buddy is about to get married, November 14, 2005
This is a little more complex than the standard fake engagement romance. For a start this is the third book in the Jessica Hart series, City Brides. This one is about Bella and Josh. Bella is the last of the three friends who were sharing a house in Tooting on the outskirts of London
She has known Josh since university and he has loved her for all that time but he knows that sex just confuses things and he will lose his best friend if they get romantically involved. Bella likes that idea until he introduces her one day to Aisling - the woman he loves. Bella realises that Josh is not just her best friend, but he is in fact the one that she loves.
Josh knows something is wrong with Bella, but she convinces him she is in love with her last boyfriend who has dumped her. He believes it. She must make him believe it further when Aisling, now his fiance dumps him just before a big business trip. He is expected to go schmooze clients and needs her to take his fiances place.
Well it has more complications than that but that's the simplified version. There are confusions and misunderstandings, but it all ends well for the third Bride in the series.
Both Josh and Bella are likeable characters, not as witty and fun as some of the ones Hart Creates, but good fun nevertheless.
